Schroeder YMCA Swim Team

  1. Couple of Announcements:  

  1. SSTY Brewer Tailgate and Game on Saturday, 9/19:  There are only 20 tickets left in the block.  You must now email Coach Alex to get yours, ahallam@wsacltd.org. First come first serve

  1. Season Start:  We have a couple of weeks until the season begins.  In general, the season begins after 9/1 and ramps up with some tryouts and maintenance practices until most groups have a full schedule on 9/14.  below are some useful links:

  1. Pump Problem at Schroeder - there is a problem with the drive that turns the pump at Schroeder.  This will cause a delay in the facility opening until 9/8.  More info will come when it’s available.

Schroeder South

1. Announcing Our Schroeder South Fall Tryouts:

While we’re out and about this summer at festivals and fireworks, please spread the word to friends and neighbors about our program.  Tryouts are scheduled for the second week of September: 9/9 at 6:15 p.m. (Greendale High School), 9/12 at 9:00 a.m. (Deer Creek Intermediate School).  If you would like an electronic copy of the tryout flyer, email Becky Young byoung@wsacltd.org and she’ll get it to you.

2. As of 8/12, Schroeder South Dreamfuel Campaign at $2,477!

Thanks to all of you who have already spread the word and have acquired contributions.  This is an important fundraiser for all groups at Schroeder South and we need every family to participate.  FYI, this is a cutting edge fundraiser in competitive swimming.  As a result, Swimming World Magazine published an article about our Schroeder South Dreamfuel Campaign.  Let’s show the national swimming community what we can do!  If you have not seen the article, here is the link:

3. Practices And Meets:

Click the Schroeder South Practice Schedule below to view.  Most of the hours have been confirmed however we have not been given the exact re-open dates for Pulaski and Cudahy Middle School pools.  Please be sure to check the schedule carefully for the first few weeks for changes.

S1, S2, J, AG1, AG2 families, please note and save the dates of the Carmel Meet (11/6-8) in Indianapolis.  We are hoping for a very large turnout from these groups for a very fun travel meet at this world-class facility.  There are no time standards so all swimmers in these groups are eligible to attend.  Watch for more info, including room info, in September.

The following is the required equipment list for swimmers in each group.  Please make every effort to have equipment by the first practice of your swimmer’s group:

5. SSTY Brewer Tailgate and Game on Saturday, 9/19:

We have reserved a limited number of tickets for this game.  To be guaranteed a spot to sit with the team, you must reserve your ticket.  There are only 20 tickets left in the block (they are going fast!!).  You must now email Coach Alex to get yours  ahallam@wsacltd.org first come first served! 6. Save the Date For Schroeder South Annual Meeting:

The first annual Schroeder South General Parent Meeting is Tuesday, September 15th at Cudahy Middle School.  Among the many items on the agenda, coaches will be introduced, the upcoming practice and meet schedule will be reviewed, and the new group structure will be discussed.  There will also be a question and answer period.

There will be a limited number of new SST T-shirts on sale at the meeting.  Cash or check only ($15).

We are also hoping to have Elsmore Swim Shop set up at the meeting to help you with equipment, suit, cap, goggle, etc. needs.  Watch for more info on that.

7. Contact Your Swimmer’s Coach Directly And Mail All Checks to Matt Miller:

Please contact your swimmer’s lead coach for all questions.  Do not use the Schroeder team email for that reason as it causes much confusion as to who answers your question or if your question was even answered.  So feel free to email your child’s coach or talk to her/him before or after practice.

Please mail all checks to Matt Miller rather than giving them to coaches at practice.  We have not lost a check yet, but practice can get a little hectic.  You can mail them to Matt at the following address:

8. SSTY South Office Hours:

The Schroeder South office is closed until September 4th.  In the meantime, please direct questions to Becky Young or Alex Hallam.
