A Note From Ms. Rebecca

Hello Parents!

I can not thank you enough for sharing your children with me this year. They have taught me so much and I love each of them dearly. I will miss them over the summer and can not wait to see them in the fall. What a wonderful first year it has been for me, thanks to all of you. I can’t wait to see what next year brings!

Please remember that I am always here to answer any questions and/or concerns that you may have.

You can contact me via e-mail at rebecca.villegas@cemco.org or you may call the school.  We also have a class Facebook page so feel free to friend Rebecca Cemcs.

It’s important that we work together for the best outcomes for your children.

This Month’s Events

Field day will be on April 12, 2017 and we need some volunteers! Please check your student’s folder for a green field day form and indicate if you will be able to volunteer or not and return it to school as soon as possible.

A few supplies we need SOON:

  • Supplies to decorate our Field Day shirts, no later than May 10th. Ex: Fabric paint and fabric GLITTER! If you know of a way we can print our class logo and iron it on our shirts, we need that too.
  • A shoe box for each student
  • Rubber Bands
  • Tissue paper
  • Clorox wipes

Benchmark Testing is underway as of May 1st! Please make sure students are prepared and ready to shine!

Report Card Information

Will be sent home in your child’s folder on or before the last day of school but if they are not, they will be mailed to your home address no later than May 26th.

Just for fun!

If you ever want to sing our class anthem together with your student, here is a link.

Will.i.am and Elmo sing "What I Am"

Please take the time to open and look in your child’s folder daily. This is important as we send home important information. Much of this information is included on our newsletter as well as via email but we want to make sure the information is communicated. Many of the things we send home in the folder are time sensitive. Thank you!

This month we are learning a lot of exciting things!

  • Horticulture and garden upkeep (continued!)
  • Grace and Courtesy, every day, all the time, in and out of class
  • How to use a dictionary and thesaurus
  • Place Values
  • Dynamic Addition and Subtraction
  • Multiplication (for those that are ready)
  • Story sequencing and transition
  • Key words in word problems Ex: more than, less than, all together, difference...
  • Nouns, verbs, adjectives
  • Continuing our Rock and Mineral lessons
  • Being a good friend
  • Caring for the Environment, in and out of class
  • How we show love to those that we care about

Dress Down Days are fundraising events!

Please do not forget to send money for dress down on Fridays when you student participates! This is an important fundraiser for our school.

Some of our friend’s folders are pretty worn. If you would like to purchase a new one (also a PTO fundraiser) they are $5. Forms will be sent home for more information.

If your student receives and IBDF please remember to return it to school the following day, signed and any additional assignments completed. This is very important.

Bathroom Policy:

Our class takes upwards of 6-8 class bathroom breaks per day. Due to vandalism of the bathrooms, friends are not allowed to go to the bathroom without adult supervision. Please help us and reinforce how important it is to go to the bathroom with the class, when they have an opportunity. Since we have implemented this policy our friends have improved greatly! We thank you for all of your support.

Tutorial Schedule: Tutorial is available upon request on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month 8:15-8:45.

If the class has an immediate need, I will send an email out to our friend’s family’s for help. Our Amazon list will be updated as the year progresses.

Please don’t forget to save your receipts to input your Family Service Hours for S.Y. 2016 - 2017.  One hour equals to $5.00.  Click on the link here: http://cemco.org/hours.htm.

We need your help with...

Everyone has been getting sick so please be mindful, that if your child is sick, please keep your child at home until your child is well.

Please be vigilant in helping your child in handwashing and covering their cough and when they sneeze.

If your child is out sick, please bring a note in when you return to school or send me a e-mail at rebecca.villegas@cemco.org.

Additionally, please continue to reinforce Grace and Courtesy rules at home and help us with teaching our friends to be kind to one another, use kind words, listen, use six inch voices and staying on task.

Classroom Visits and Volunteering Opportunities

When visiting class or volunteering, please make sure that the teacher is aware at least 24 hours in advance so that we may ensure that we have something that you may help with. We appreciate all of your support and readiness to participate with your child’s education and look forward to learning from you!

Parent Observations: Upon request, parents are welcome to come visit class for a scheduled observation. Parents may sit, observe and take notes as they please but may not interact with students or actively disrupt class. Speak to Ms. Rebecca or Ms. Melissa for further information.
