Introduction to the Shakespeare authorship controversy: Dr. David Montee, Academy Theatre Instructor and director of Cardenio, and author of the book, Translating Shakespeare: A Guidebook for Young Actors.

Session 2: Harvey Theatre

Panel Discussion: The mysteries and controversies of the “authorship question” and the mechanics of playwright collaboration in the Elizabethan/Jacobean Theatre. Panelists include: Dr. Sabrina Feldman, manager of the Planetary Science Instrument Development Office at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, Shakespearean scholar, and author of the books The Apocryphal Shakespeare and The Shakespearean Glass Slipper; Dr. Richard Joyrich, Detroit doctor of Nuclear Medicine and Radiology, and founding member of the Oberon Shakespeare Study Group; and Scott Harman, educator, actor and scholar focused on Shakespeare pedagogy and theatre historiography.

Performance of Cardenio by Interlochen Theater Department: Harvey Theatre

The Interlochen Arts Academy theatre students will present a rare production of Royal Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Gregory Doran’s 2010 adaptation of Cardenio. The play, which was rediscovered in the 18th century and produced then under the title Double Falsehood, offers a narrative borrowed from a subplot of Cervantes’ novel Don Quixote.
