Question 2. I have met him frequently during the latter part of this period from 1912 onwards. He always gave me the idea of a cultured and intellectual man, very fond of conversation and generally a most interesting man.
Question 3. Yes. He first spoke to me about his intentions in 1912. And in 1913, June or July, asked me to be one of his sponsors. I signed his papers in July 1914.
Question 4. He always spoke of English people with great friendliness and appreciation of the many kindnesses he had received at their homes. He frequently stayed with people standing in distinction. He has told me more than once of his affection for England. This did not surprise me seeing that his wife was English and all his children brought up in English ways, schools etc. Moreover they all look very English.
Question 5. Yes, frequently. I never witnessed any action of his which indicated anything but that of a well wisher to England. He had no regard for either Germany or Austria, French and Italians. He regarded I believe, in the sense of being allies of ours. I don't remember that he ever made any special references to them. The Russians for historical reasons were enemies of Hungary. And I don't suppose he actually loved them, because they were one of our allies, but I never heard him make any openly hostile comments.
