The Great Compromise- Answer Key

The Great Compromise

Problem:

The states had different viewpoints on representation and how much each state would get.

NJ Plan:

NJ was a small state and they wanted equal representation from each state.

VA Plan:

The Virginia Plan was a rather large state and wanted representation based on population. EX: Big states would have more people representing their state.

The Great Compromise:

The Great Compromise stated that there was going to be 2 houses. The Senate and The House of Representatives. The Senate would be based on the NJ Plan (2 people from each state with a total of 100 people) and the House of Representatives would be based on the VA Plan (435 people in total).
