In, “Nancy Eckerson: Music can Improve Running Performance” on fosters.com, It simply speaks about, exactly what the title depicts. Music improves running performance; so much so for a lot of people, that Eckerson states, “One year later, the ban was lifted, except for athletes competing in USA championship races; the USATF cited the difficulty of enforcement, but the uproar the ban caused was certainly part of the reason.”  The USATF banned running with headphones on, and then, even after the ban was lifted, they still left the ban for athletes competing. Music’s effect on mood can be so evident that physically we can make our bodies work harder, like pushing a new limit every time.

In an article on nytimes.com called, “The Power of Music, Tapped in a Cubicle,” the writer says, In biological terms, melodious sounds help encourage the release of dopamine in the reward area of the brain, as would eating a delicacy, looking at something appealing or smelling a pleasant aroma.” In a different direction, music can affect mood by our minds telling us that the music we listen is a reward.

In the same article on nytimes.com called, “The Power of Music, Tapped in a Cublicle,”  It breaks you out of just thinking one way,” said Teresa Lesiuk, an assistant professor in the music therapy program at the University of Miami. Music helps you explore, to use your brain to be creative, see things differently. The outcomes of our thoughts are incredible. We made the first airplane to the jets flying faster than imagined; we made chariots to that sweet looking mercedes we all would like to have. Music has definitely a way of creeping into our thoughts, adding color to the thoughts we once saw no other option to the now incredible, breathtaking solution that we have now. I think about inventors and think “Where do they get their inspiration?” And then I think where I would get mine, through music. Right now I’m listening to music as I write. It just flows through me when I listen and write, a truly beautiful sound singing through my thoughts and makes me want to write that one more sentence I wouldn’t want to if I wasn’t listening to music.

“I am convinced that music creates an atmosphere that has power to impact change. Music of yesterday created an atmosphere of love and friendship, music that made everybody want to learn the lyrics.” Music is a sure way to control your emotions. When you’re angry you can calm down, happy you can be happier. I mean the feelings you can get with music is as many as the human mind has, but the most beautiful ones are the happy, the fun, the understanding, the loving, the overcoming music that music that gets into your soul and makes you hit that repeat. That’s the amazing music that can take on anything if given the chance, the music that can affect even the coldest of hearts to see what the world should be about, love. I love music, it is one of the greatest things we have and we should cherish every single day, embrace till we know the words of the songs too well.
