Is a license required to get started and/or work in the field? Yes. Real estate is a highly recognized profession within all provinces in Canada- and a license is required to work with clients, start the training process, prospect, advertise, host open houses, and market yourself.
Can real estate be a part-time profession for me? While there is no requirement from the regulatory bodies at this time to practice real estate full time vs part time, at Royal LePage Atlantic we do not hire part time real estate agents. Our goal is to invest in you, as an agent, so that you can reap the benefits of real estate to your full potential (which includes flexibility in time and income that matches your efforts). The ideal agent for us is entrepreneurial in spirit, and extremely achievement focused- which is difficult to achieve while working in another industry.
Is the cost of the licensing course my responsibility? Yes. Real estate is a path towards entrepreneurship- which becomes an investment in yourself.
Am I able to apply for a student loan for the cost of the course? At this time, no. Student loans are intended for those taking post-secondary education courses. Whereas the path to real estate is entrepreneurial in nature, government funded loans do not currently exist for real estate.
How long will it typically take for me to start seeing an income once I’m licensed? In short, this is completely up to you. Real estate allows the benefits of the amount of time invested, resulting in the financial reward. At Royal LePage Atlantic, we believe in teaching you best practices to prospect, build your database, help you nurture it in a professional manner, and build your confidence through our mentorship and coaching program. While the industry tends to be cyclical in nature, there are strategies and approaches to the various markets that help our agents be as productive as possible in all cycles.
Is there a salary associated with becoming a real estate agent? No. This is a 100% commission sales based career that is a form of entrepreneurship.
What does the application process look like with Royal LePage Atlantic? We are incredibly proud of not only our market share throughout Atlantic Canada, but also the fact that our agents are highly productive. We seek to maintain that each year by hiring the most talented individuals who will contribute to these stats.
