Course Description

The goal of personal finance is to help students become financially responsible, conscientious members of society.  This course develops student understanding and skills in money management; budgeting; financial goal attainment; use of credit; insurance; investments; and consumer rights and responsibilities.  Application of academic concepts, technology, and career planning are integrated throughout the curriculum.

Assignments

Assignments are to be submitted into Canvas by the next class period.  If an assignment is not completed on time, you are allowed to submit the assignment late, which will affect the citizenship portion of your grade.  It should be noted that the class will move forward regardless of individual completion of course work.  Should any unforeseen circumstances affect your ability to meet a deadline, please contact the instructor to clarify and make the appropriate arrangements.

Grading System

Grading will be based on points designated to each individual assignment.  Testing/Projects will be assigned a higher point value, making them a larger portion of the overall grade.

MCS Grading Scale

A: 94-100        B+: 93-90        B: 86-89        C+: 82-85        C: 78-81        D+: 74-77                 D: 70-73        F: 69 or below

Make Up Work

If you are absent, YOU are responsible to get the missed assignment(s).  Assignments will be posted on Canvas.  One day extra make up time is allowed for the day missed.  For example, if you miss class on Monday, the work assigned that day will be due on Wednesday.  If you miss class on Monday and Tuesday, the work assigned for Monday will be due Thursday and the work assigned for Tuesday will be due Friday.

Tardy Policy

A student is considered tardy when they are not in the classroom when the tardy bell rings.

Communication

Assignments will be posted on Canvas.  Parents are encouraged to access students’ grades on Powerschool and contact me as needed.  If internet access is not available please contact me and I will get student information to you.
