Saturday, April 6 – POPPY TROT FUN RUN, Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve, 8 a.m. start. Jog, hike or walk up to seven miles of trails while enjoying the spring wildflower displays on the Poppy Reserve. The reserve is located about 16 miles west of Lancaster on Lancaster Road, the extension of West Avenue I. Bring munchies to share at the end of the run. One lucky participant will receive a $25 gift certificate, redeemable at the on-site gift shop / interpretive center. Saturday, April 6 – GREEN VALLEY: LEONA DIVIDE 50 / 50 ULTRA TRAIL RACE. Start and finish at the Green Valley Charitable Hall, 39118 Calle Bonita, Green Valley. Event includes 100K, 50 Mile, 50K and 30K races. Start time is 6 a.m. for the 100K, 50 Mile and 50K; 6:30 a.m. for the 30K. Participants can pick up their bib packet at the community center from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 5. New this year: The LD 50/50 races will be part of the new Angeles Crest 100 mile Sterling Silver Cup race series! The Leona Divide races are 95 percent on single track on the Pacific Crest Trail. Saturday, April 13 – MOUNTAIN TRAIL FUN RUN, Pacific Crest Trail, Mill Creek Summit to The Cedars (about 16 miles). Meet at Mill Creek Summit parking lot just off Angeles Forest Hwy, 11 miles south of Sierra Hwy. / Angeles Forest Hwy. intersection. Moderately steep uphill, then rolling outbound toward Mt. Saturday, April 20 – PALMDALE: CEF RUN 4 KIDS 5K /1K RUN/WALK, Faith Community Church, 39100 10th St. West, 9 a.m. start. Event includes a 5K run/walk for teens and adults, and a 1K run for kids age 12 and under. The event is a fund-raiser for Antelope Valley Child Evangelism Fellowship, a Christian ministry to elementary-age children via Good News Clubs at various AV schools. Early registration: $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under; late registration DOR: $30 and $20. Awards three deep in every age group and t-shirts to the first 200 to sign up. Saturday, May 4 – PALMDALE: NUTTY RUNNERS 5K / 10K AND KIDS’ HALF-MILE RUNS, Marie Kerr Park, 2723 West Rancho Vista Blvd., Palmdale. Courses on park pathways and auxiliary parking lot. 10K start at 7 a.m.; 5K start follows at 8 a.m. On-line adult pre-registration $30 for either race; $40 for both; youth pre-registration $20 for the 5K; $25 for both. $10 for kids’ half-mile run. Add $5 for all ages and races day-of-race. Awards first through third in five-year age divisions; medals to all finishers. Proceeds of this tenth anniversary event will benefit the West Antelope Valley Education Foundation, which supports arts, athletics and other extra-curricular activities in the Westside Union School District. Saturday, May 18 – TEHACHAPI: WARRIOR CHALLENGE OBSTACLE RACE, Philip Marx Central Park, Mojave and “E” Streets, 9 a.m. start. Three-mile course will include about 30 obstacles including bucket carries, low crawl, tire flips, monkey bars, swimming (age 15 and over) and many others. There will be a burpee option to opt out of any obstacle. Pre-registration through May 16 -- $40, DOR -- $50. Staged by the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District, all proceeds will go to the Warrior Boosters for the Warrior Football team.

Saturday, May 18 – MOUNTAIN TRAIL FUN RUN, Pacific Crest Trail, Agua Dulce to Sierra Pelona Ridge (about 11 miles), 8 a.m. start. Out-&-back route on the PCT, steep and rocky in places. Sunday, May 19 – PALMDALE: VETS 4 VETERANS 5K COLOR BLAST FUN RUN, Pelona Vista Park, Tierra Subida and Rayburn Roads, 8 a.m. start. Early bird entry fees: $35 adult, $35 children, infants/toddlers free through April 15; add $5 per paid entry after April 15. Register on-line at www.avvets4veterans.org/run. Event proceeds to benefit transitional housing, scholarships, financial assistance and PTSD counseling for veterans.

 

OUT OF AREA

Saturday, March 23 – LOS ANGELES: LA BIG 5K. The 3.2-mile course winds through Elysian Park and finishes at Dodger Stadium, where the Los Angeles Marathon begins the following day. Essentially a fun run, this event allows friends and family of those running the marathon to experience some of the excitement of the marathon.

Sunday, March 24 – LOS ANGELES: CHARITY CHALLENGE HALF-MARATHON. This event starts in Hollywood and shares the latter half of the full marathon course to the finish in Santa Monica. The half-marathon is limited to charity runners and is capped at 1,100 participants.

Sunday, March 24 – LOS ANGELES: LOS ANGELES MARATHON, 6:55 a.m. start. The scenic  “Stadium-to-the-Sea”  course begins at Dodger Stadium and takes runners past iconic Los Angeles landmarks as they make their way to the finish on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica.

Sunday, June 2 – PALMDALE: FIVE KLICKS TO HOME 5K RUN/WALK 2019, Marie Kerr Park, 39700 30th Street West at Rancho Vista Boulevard, Palmdale, 8 a.m. start. Flat 3.1-mile course, mostly on dirt paths and gravel parking lot. Participants are encouraged to wear red, white and blue apparel. Saturday, June 15 – TEHACHAPI: RUN & RIDE WITH THE WIND 5K & DUATHLON, Tehachapi Glider Port, 16334 Harris Rd, Tehachapi, 8 a.m. start. Event includes Championchip timing, refreshments, technical race shirt, great course, finisher’s medal & awesome swag!. Early Registration through March 15 -- $35 5K / $50 Duathlon / $70 Team; Registration March 16 to May 1 -- $40 5K / $55 Duathlon / $75 Team. Day of Race -- $45 5K / $65 Duathlon / $85 Team. Staged by the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District.

Thursday, July 4 – TEHACHAPI: ALL-AMERICAN 5K RUN, Philip Marx Central Park, at Mojave and “E” Sts, 7 a.m. start. Course is slight uphill going out, flat through the middle, and downhill in last mile. Event includes Championchip timing, refreshments, technical race shirts, great course, finisher’s medal and awesome swag! Early registration $35; $40 DOR. Prizes given to top overall male and female and top three in each age group. Participants are encouraged to stay for the city’s Fourth of July Festival at the park, including vendors, live music, beer garden, and a children’s parade. Staged by the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District.
