Sunday, June 17 -- MOUNTAIN TRAIL FUN RUN, Father's Day on the Burkhart Trail (10 miles), 8 a.m. start. Out-&-back on the Burkhart Trail from Devil's Punchbowl County Park near Juniper Hills. Take Hwy. 138 to Littlerock, turn south on 82nd Street East, east on Ft. Tejon Road for about six miles, south on Longview Road for about three miles, left on Tumbleweed Road into park. Sunday, June 24 -- PALMDALE: SECOND ANNUAL PLANET FITNESS 5K FUN RUN & 1K WALK, Pelona Vista Park, Tierra Subida and Rayburn Roads, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Courses on dirt trails. Entry fee: $10 for Planet Fitness members; $15 for non-members. Commemorative T-shirt and other giveaway prizes to all participants. Proceeds to benefit the Antelope Valley Boys and Girls club to support programs combating teen bullying. Thursday, June 28 – PALMDALE: AV SUMMER  CROSS-COUNTRY SERIES, MEET #1, Pelona Vista Park, Tierra Subida Ave. at Rayburn Road. Meet includes a preliminary one-mile fun run for kids age 12 and under beginning about 6:20 p.m. and a three-mile all-comers run beginning at about 6:45 p.m. No advance registration; DOR registration begins about 5:45 p.m. Both courses are of moderate difficulty and are all on dirt trails. NO ENTRY FEE, but donations of at least $1 per meet are encouraged to offset series expenses and to fund the High Desert Runners’ "AAA" awards presented annually at the end of the fall XC season to local high school cross-country runners who demonstrate outstanding accomplishment in academics, athletics and attitude. Wednesday, July 4—SANTA CLARITA/NEWHALL: INDEPENDENCE DAY CLASSIC 5K/10K RUNS, Newhall Memorial Park, 24933 Newhall Ave. 36th annual event also includes kids 1K run and a non-competitive walk. 10K run start at 7 a.m., 5K race and walk start at 8 a.m., kids 1K start at 7:45 a.m. Both the 5K and 10K courses are mostly flat and fast, the 5K along the Independence Day Parade route and the 10K along the South Fork Trail. All 5K and 10K participants receive a technical T-shirt and a finishers’ medal. Awards to overall male and female winners and three deep in five-year age groups. Advance entry fees on-line only at http://www.scrunners.org/independence-day-classic.html through July 1: 5K--$30; 10K-- $35; both -- $45; Kids 1K -- $10, add $5 after June 10, add another $5 for DOR registration. All proceeds benefit the cross-country programs at the six public high schools in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Wednesday, July 4—TEHACHAPI: ALL-AMERICAN 5K RUN, Phillip Marx Central Park, Mojave and “E” streets, central Tehachapi, 7 a.m. start. The course weaves its way throughout central Tehachapi. Prizes given to top overall male and female and top three in each category. Participants are encouraged to stay and enjoy the City of Tehachapi’s vibrant 4th of July Festival. Entry fees through May 1 = $30; May 2 - June 15 - $35; June 16 - July 3 - $40; Day of Race - $45. Event includes Championchip timing, refreshments, technical race shirts, great course, finisher’s medal and awesome swag! Register on-line at www.tvrpd.org. Pre-race packet pickup from 8 a.m. through 6 p.m. on July 3 at the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District office, 490 West "D" Street.

Saturday, July 28—ROSAMOND: SATURDAY NIGHT SUMMER LOVIN’ 5K RUN , One Core Fitness, 2972 Poplar St. at 30th St. West, ¼ mile south of Rosamond Blvd., 6 p.m. start. DOR registration begins at 5 p.m. No information provided about course, awards, entry fee, etc. Medals to all finishers. Event also includes a car show and a showing of the movie “Grease.” Post-run water and bananas to all runners, hot-dog dinner available for $5, with proceeds to benefit the One Core Dancers. Thursday, Aug. 2 -- PALMDALE: AV SUMMER  CROSS-COUNTRY SERIES, MEET #6, Pelona Vista Park, Tierra Subida Ave. at Rayburn Road. The sixth meet will be run as a single three-segment COED RELAY on a portion of the long course (no preliminary run). At least one male and one female must be on each two- or three-person team. Saturday, Aug. 4 – MOUNTAIN TRAIL FUN RUN, Pacific Crest Trail, Bouquet Canyon to Sierra Pelona Ridge (8 miles) 7 a.m. start! Meet at the PCT trailhead on Bouquet Canyon Road, six miles southwest of Leona Valley. Moderately steep uphill outbound, same downhill on return. Participants must carry water with them. Thursday, Aug. 9 -- PALMDALE: AV SUMMER  CROSS-COUNTRY SERIES, MEET #7, FINALS, Pelona Vista Park, Tierra Subida Ave. at Rayburn Road. We anticipate awarding medals to the overall male and female winners and at least three deep in age groups at the finals, depending on participation at the prelims. Winners must have run in a minimum of three preliminary meets (coed relay also counts) to be eligible for potential awards at the finals. See flyer for additional details. Saturday, Aug. 18 – TEHACHAPI: MOUNTAIN GALLOP 5K / 10K, Techachapi Event Center and Rodeo Grounds on Dennison Road, 7 a.m. start. This event is being held in cooperation with the annual Tehachapi Mountain Festival, which includes a parade, carnival and rodeo. Entry fees: through June 1 - $30 5K / $35 10K; June 2 to July 15 - $35 5K / $40 10K; July 16 – Aug. 16 - $40 5K / $45 10K; Day of Race = $45 5K / $50 10K.
