1.        Mobile Devices (Chromebooks and Tablets) in JCTIC:

The provision of chromebooks is one of the elearning support services provided by Jockey Club Ti-I College. All the chromebooks are set to connected automatically to our school Wi-Fi system. All users are expected to read, understand and comply with JCTIC IT Acceptable User Policy (AUP), Copyright Statement and Privacy Statement stipulated on official school website and IT Support Hub.

Currently there are two sets of Chromebooks in JCTIC.

Purposes

ICT lessons in CAL Room

2.        JCTIC Cloud and Google for Education:

JCTIC deploys Google Apps For Education (GAFE) in learning and teaching, e.g. Students’ email accounts (Gmail), Digital Learning Hub (Google Site, Google Drive) and Google Classroom. Chromebooks are chosen as they are a new type of computers designed to help teachers and students get things done faster and easier. They run Chrome OS, a Google’s operating system that has cloud storage, multiple layers of security and the most popular Google applications or products built-in. Students can easily login to the chromebooks with their school accounts and keep their work updated in cloud storage (Google Drive).  

All JCTIC users with a valid JCTIC account can login to our Chromebooks simply with their school accounts.

3.        Booking System (for staff):

An online booking system (Staff Intranet → IT System → Mobile Device Booking) has been built for subject teachers to book mobile devices (chromebooks or tablets) for lessons. The instructions are listed as follows.

  1. All booking should be made at least 1 day in advance.
  2. Only teaching staff has the right to book mobile devices.
  3. A set of 20 chromebooks and a set of 10 tablets are available. (The booking for tablets will be released soon.)
  4. Procedures in booking Mobile Devices:

Step 1: Choose the Date

Step 2: Choose the Lesson Time Slot(s)

Step 3: Choose the Classroom

Step 4: Select the Type and the Number of Devices

Step 5: Choose Hold

Step 6: Confirm Booking

  1. Confirmation email(s) will be sent to the borrower and I.T. technical staff once a booking is made or cancelled.
  2. System administrators have the right to delete your bookings made at least 2 days in advance.
  3. Booking can only be made within the current academic year; i.e. from September to August.
  4. The mobile devices will be delivered directly to the specified classroom by an I.T. technical staff and the concerned teacher should officially collect the devices in person from our technical staff.

After use, the devices will be collected from the specified classroom by our I.T. technical staff. The concerned teacher should wait for the I.T. technical staff at the site and make sure that the devices are all properly returned before leaving.
