There are two distinct ways of copying an assignment to multiple classes, each with very different consequences
Read through this whole tutorial to understand the difference and decide which option is best for you. (Don’t forget the video tutorial too!)
OPTION 1: “Share to More Calendars”
On the new event form, clicking “Share to more calendars” will reveal a menu of checkboxes corresponding to each of your sections:
Checking an additional section’s box and clicking “Save Event” will literally put this one assignment in two places at the same time.
The assignment appears twice on your calendar, once for each section, but editing either instance—for example, dragging it to another date—in fact will edit both.
See how both moved? This could be a pain if your sections don’t always remain perfectly synced up.
OPTION 2: “Save & Clone”
Back to the beginning on the new event form, clicking “Save & Clone” will publish your event to the class you were already looking at (in this case, American Literature – HONORS (ENG 300 – 2, pPurple).
It also returns you to the new event form, with all your assignment information populated in the boxes (Title, Event Type, Date, etc.), so you may create a new, independent copy of the assignment on a different section’s calendar.
Choose the additional section to which you wish to give the assignment.
(You can feel free here as well to adjust assignment details for the new section, which now won’t affect the assignment on the original section’s calendar)
Once again, assignment appears twice on your calendar, once for each section, but now editing either instance—for example, dragging it to another date—will only edit that one instance.
See how only one moved? I prefer this method because sections so rarely sync up on our color calendar.
