Hey everyone! I'm Tyrone, also known as Synthfro, and I'm here to help bring your musical ideas to life.

Around ten years ago, I started recreating the classic soundtrack from Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. Like many television series, the show never received an official soundtrack release, yet its music has remained deeply nostalgic for fans all over the world—perhaps even the universe, if aliens really do exist!

I was among the first group of fans dedicated to faithfully recreating the show's music, rather than relying on edited clips taken directly from the episodes. As with any creative journey, I started out learning and refining my craft, and over the years my skills have continued to grow. Today, I produce music to a professional standard, creating polished, broadcast-quality tracks suitable for a wide range of productions.

While Thomas music is where my journey began, it certainly isn't where it ends. I enjoy composing jingles, incidental music, and original pieces across a variety of styles, constantly challenging myself to become a more versatile composer.

Like many musicians, my goal is to build a career doing what I'm most passionate about—creating music. Thanks to the incredible support of the thousands of people who have followed my work over the years, I've reached a point where I'm confident in offering commissioned compositions professionally.

When you commission me, you can expect high-quality, professionally produced, thoughtfully arranged music tailored to your project. Whether you're looking for something that captures the warmth of nostalgia or you're after an entirely original composition, I'm always excited to take on new creative challenges.

What you’ll receive

Most commissions are at least 30 seconds in length, as this is roughly the duration of a typical TV theme or character motif, so this forms the basis of my pricing. However, I can make exceptions for shorter musical stings or brief cues depending on the project.

Although a piece may only last a few seconds, the amount of work involved is often much greater than people realise. Even a short flute motif in the style of the early Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends series can take considerably longer to recreate than its runtime would suggest. Every commission receives the same level of care and attention, regardless of its length.

As music composition is now my primary source of income, and due to increasing living and business costs in the UK, I have had to revise my pricing to better reflect the time, skill, and effort involved in producing professional-quality work. Every commission goes through a detailed production process, including:

• Researching the musical style, instrumentation, and arrangement required for the commission.
• Selecting and fine-tuning the most appropriate virtual instruments and sound libraries.
• Programming and recording every individual musical part from scratch.
• Carefully shaping every note by adjusting timing, velocity, duration, expression, articulation, and automation to create a realistic performance.
• Layering instruments where necessary to achieve a fuller, more authentic sound.
• Designing and balancing the stereo image so every instrument has its own place within the mix.
• Applying and refining effects such as EQ, compression, reverb, delay, chorus, and other processing to achieve a polished, professional sound.
• Removing unwanted frequencies, balancing dynamics, and ensuring each instrument sits naturally within the mix.
• Listening back on multiple playback systems (where possible) to ensure the music translates well across headphones, speakers, phones, and other devices.
• Making revisions where required to ensure the commission meets the agreed creative brief.
• Exporting, quality-checking, labelling, organising, and delivering the finished audio in the requested format.

My goal is always the same: to deliver music that is accurate, professionally produced, and tailored to your project. I take great pride in every commission, whether it's a five-second motif or a full orchestral cue, and I strive to ensure every client receives a finished piece they're genuinely excited to use.

All prices include composition, arrangement, production, mixing, mastering, and one round of revisions.

Longer Projects

Commissions exceeding 2 minutes are quoted on an individual basis, as every project has different creative and technical requirements. Factors such as musical complexity, instrumentation, structure, turnaround time, and the intended use of the music will all be considered when preparing a quote.

Longer compositions often require additional thematic development, transitions, mixing, and production work beyond simply extending the duration, so pricing may not increase on a strict per-minute basis.

Before any work begins, you'll receive a clear quotation outlining the total cost of the commission. No work will commence until both parties have agreed to the project scope and price, ensuring complete transparency from the outset.

Track Revisions

The quoted project fee includes one round of revisions based on the agreed creative brief.

Revisions that refine or adjust the work while remaining within the original brief are included at no additional cost.

If revisions are required because I have misunderstood or incorrectly interpreted the agreed brief, I will make the necessary corrections at no additional charge.

If revisions are required because the creative brief has changed, new requirements have been introduced, or the original brief or reference material was inaccurate, incomplete, or miscommunicated by the client, these changes will be treated as out-of-scope work and will incur an additional fee. Any such costs will be discussed and agreed upon before further work begins.

Any revision requests beyond the included revision round, or repeated requests for changes after previous revisions have been approved, may also incur additional charges. The client will be informed of any applicable fees before the work proceeds.

If a revision requires the song to be substantially rewritten or recomposed, including significant changes to the original melody, chord progression, structure, or arrangement, this will be considered additional work rather than a standard revision and will incur an additional fee. The cost will depend on the extent of the changes required and will always be discussed and agreed upon with the client before any additional work begins.

Payment Notice: If paying via PayPal, please send your payment using the Friends & Family option where appropriate, as payments sent via Goods & Services incur additional processing fees. If you prefer to pay using Goods & Services, the applicable PayPal fee will be added to your invoice.

Important Notes

Limitations

I've recreated a lot of Thomas music over the years, but don't feel limited by that. I'm always open to commissions inspired by original compositions, other TV shows, video games, and more. The only limitation is that I generally don't work with live instruments. I may be able to arrange guitar if needed, but other live instrumentation is unlikely to be possible.

I'm looking forward to seeing the ideas people come up with and bringing them to life.

One final note regarding commissions and project enquiries: please only get in touch when you are ready to proceed with a commission and have the funds available to pay at the time we discuss your proposal. Unfortunately, it's quite common for people to enquire about projects, discuss ideas in detail, and then disappear once pricing is provided. While I completely understand that budgets and personal circumstances can change, spending time developing proposals for projects that never move forward takes valuable time away from active work.
