Overview and Purpose (OAP)
The Executive Management and Program Support Student Lead positions are integral to the mission of the Wesley Center for Spirituality, Service, and Social Justice, which reads:

Through these positions we are offering students a chance to directly help the administration and outreach of the Wesley Center so that the Wesley Center can continue to impact Hamline’s campus and beyond.
Wesley Center staff will offer mentoring and support to all Student Leads.
All Wesley Center Student Leads are expected to act in accordance with Wesley Center/Hamline University’s mission at all times and to sign a Wesley Center Student Worker Expectations and Confidentiality Agreement.
Primary Duties
Main Location: Main Office of the Wesley Center, Anderson Center 318
open: Wesley Center Service and Outreach Student Lead (1 position open):
Supervised by the Associate Director of the Wesley Center, Nur Mood
Work with EO New Student Outreach interns to develop and implement an Wesley Center Outreach annual plan. This plan will include an exhaustive schedule, plan, and staffing for all internal Hamline outreach tabling events put on by Admissions, Alumni, Student Affairs, SALD, Peer Wellness, and other groups and departments on campus. This position will also be in charge of coordinating all required Wesley Center service for all workers across all programs of the Wesley Center.students.

The Wesley Center Service Coordinator works closely with all Wesley Staff members to ensure everyone is on track with their service and projects they’re responsible for working on. In addition, this student will ensure that all religious spaces on campus remain clean, organized, and maintained.
Open: Operations and Communications Student Lead
The operations and communications manager for the Wesley Center works closely with all Wesley Staff members in the Main Office in Anderson and in the Food Resource Center, as well as Student Workers, Leads, and Interns. This position oversees all Wesley Center communications, including creation of promotional materials, social media content, production of monthly newsletters, etc. For operational tasks, you will work closely with University Chaplain and Director of the Wesley Center, Chaplain Kelly Figueroa-Ray on administrative processes, training, office management, and delegation of tasks to other student workers.
Open: Journal of Scriptural Reasoning (JSR) Student Lead
This Student Lead position is a member of the JSR Editorial Board and is responsible for the transfer of 20 years of issues of the JSR from UVA to Hamline University. This includes formatting and using Bpress to upload issues to Hamline’s platforme. This Student Lead will work with JSR interns to accomplish this and will work closely with the members of the Society of Scriptural Reasoning.
Hiring Timeline
The Executive Management and Program Support Student Lead applications open when positions are vacated in mid-April to start in Fall. Once hired a student may remain in the position for multiple years.
Pay & Eligibility
- $16-$16.50/hour
- Must have previous work/intern/volunteer experience with the Wesley Center
- Please note: Work Study eligible undergraduate students given priority
Role Responsibilities Overall
Part-Time
- 8-10 hours a week
- Flexwork: 5-7 in office; 3-5 virtual/events/meetings
- Accrue Sick Leave
Locations
- Main Office of the Wesley Center, Anderson Center 318
Wesley Center & HU Community Responsibilities
- Check-in via the Wesley Center Service & Daily Task Log and Google Chat Spaces
- Perform at least one form of weekly Wesley Center service as part of your position (this will be assigned, but you will have the chance to rate your preferences through the application process)
- Administrative and cleaning duties at the Wesley Center’s front desk in 318 Anderson
- Care for Food Resource Center (FRC) Satellite Sites, including meal delivery, refrigerator temperature recording, upkeep and cleaning of sites, etc.
- Support staffing for FRC (delivery days, front desk, stocking, cleaning, composting, shopping, etc.)
- Support Staffing for the McVay Youth Partnership (van driving, shopping, organizing and maintaining McVay storage, etc.)
- Organize cultivating belonging events that involve students across all Wesley Center programs and initiatives (MFA, FRC, Civic Engagement, SJSC, McVay, WC Outreach, and WC Communications and Operations)
- Care for Religious and Spiritual Life spaces, ritual items, and libraries
- In collaboration with the Wesley Center Communications Team:
- Work with the SJSC Student Interns to produce content for the Wesley Center and Department of Social Justice and Social Change Instagram feeds
- Produce content for 1 Wesley Center newsletter issue/semester (article, video, interview, photographs, poetry, etc.)
Qualifications
- Must be reliable
- Must have good communication and teamwork skills
- General commitment to Wesley Center’s work on campus, in our local community, and beyond
- Being able to work with staff advisors, community partners, and others involved in the internship work in a respectful and collaborative way
- Must have previous work/intern/volunteer experience with the Wesley Center
- You DO NOT need to be a majoring or minoring in any particular area to apply
- Good writing skills
- Good time management skills
- Must have an open mind and be open to fast-paced changes
- GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Preferred, but not required:
- Majoring in communication, marketing, or digital media arts is encouraged but not required
- Experience with Canva
- Experience with Facebook, Instagram, and Mailchimp
