What is Airbnb and how does Airbnb work?
So you love to go on vacation. Pick a destination, anywhere in the world. If you chose a place out of over 1,500,000 listings in 34,000 cities and 191 countries, then your are probably in luck. Airbnb, the worldwide phenomena that hit the travel market in 2008, is most likely hosting a prime spot for you to rest your weary traveler's bones and get some much needed r&r at an affordable price.
If you are new to Airbnb, this article will give you a good idea of what it is and how it works. Each host on Airbnb is offering a place people can pay to stay on a nightly basis at locations all around the world. Depending on the place you choose, you might be renting a space all to yourself or staying with your host.
For example, if you decide to stay at the above location, you will be a guest of Ketut Taylor, at a property that is shared with her family in the Gold Country of Northern California. The apartment is connected to the main house, but very private with it's own entrance. This is convenient because your hosts are easy to find if you have questions about the area or need help with anything. The neighborhood is nestled in a pine forest very near the Empire Mine Park with many walking trails and museums to visit.
Perhaps you were hoping to travel overseas. Ketut, who has earned over a hundred rave reviews on Trip Advisor, also hosts a beautiful Villa in Bali, which was her home before she moved to America.
The Villa, named Tirta Indah meaning, "Villa in Beautiful Sacred Water,” is located nearby Lake Batur, Bali’s largest lake. 5577-foot Mount Batur, which is still an active volcano, is located in the caldera that contains Lake Batur.
When you decide you want to stay at properties like these, then you simply use the Airbnb website to book your stay. Depending upon if you are using the app or visiting Airbnb on a desktop site, you will see a pinkish button which says "check availability,” “request to book, " or "instant booking." From here you will need to enter the dates of your stay. As long as the apartment is available for these dates, when a host receives your request, they send you an approval. Your payment information is made through Airbnb at your choice of credit card or paypal. Airbnb will charge your card and then they pay us separately, so your information is kept completely confidential. After arrangements have been made for your reservation, a confirmation and directions are sent with any additional information you might need to check-in comfortably.
