What do you SEE?

(Describe what you see using WOW words)

I saw great big birds soaring above my head and fast rushing water behind me. Yet calm tranquil water in front. Trees all around me.

What do you THINK?

(As you are experiencing VR tell your audience in detail what you are thinking using sequence words. First, Next, Last)

First I think we should have more places like the Timbira community. Next I think that we should use row boats because that forest isn’t completely polluted and needs to stay that way.

What do you WONDER?

(During your expedition what are you wondering about? What questions come to your mind?)

I wonder if the Rio Mariepaua has any serious pollution problems because of the boats?

Text Connections

What did you SEE in the Expedition that you can CONNECT to the text?

(Be sure to cite specific examples from the expedition and the text)

First I can tell that the amazon is much bigger than I imagined. The text said it was big with wide rivers but the VR helped alot. Next, the book said that the trees were huge and tall but actually standing below one helped me to connect the two. Like when I was standing in the forest.

How do you THINK the Expedition enhanced your understanding of the text?

(Be sure to use evidence from the text to support your response)

It made everything sort of come to life and it gave me a better understanding of the plant and animal life there.Because in the text it said that there were thousands of plants that live there. And in the VR when I was in the forest I could just see hundreds of trees just around me and not even the whole forest. And trees are home to birds, squirrels, chipmunks ect.

What do you still WONDER after experiencing the Expedition and reading the text?

(Write a reflection to extend your thinking i.e. What are you still curious about? What more do you want to know?)

Why do the Tumbira people take up so much space if they try to save the resources? They had to cut down a bunch of trees didn’t they?
