Nothing is so bad that it does not have its good side, perhaps!? We can thank the rough weather for the good fortune that at 8 o’clock on the evening of Thursday the 29th (if the storm does not prevent it), I shall see you for supper

and on Friday morning I will be standing – or rather, sitting – by to do as you command; and I accept the invitation to dinner with thanks, although I am not particularly “Leistungs fähig”^[1] –

Please pass on my best wishes to your dear and honoured wife,^[2] wishes which I will doubly pass on myself – when
