7. Other business:
While Jenni and Tony Oliver have volunteered to assist with the Christmas function on 9 December 2012, there was further discussion on whether a more permanent arrangement could be made. An option discussed was to seek voluntary assistance from local residents (who have young children) and who can continue to carry the program into the future.
The provision of a defined footpath along the floodway adjacent to the park opposite Weatherburn Place was discussed. The floodway is currently used by local pedestrians and cyclists, but its usage is compromised if the grass is left long and not mowed. The ACT Government was contacted regarding the construction of a footpath but advised that such a provision was well down their priority list for action. Further representation by the association is warranted and will be subject to future action.
The President thanked Hal Hay from the village for seeking feedback from the SBRA in the planting and maintenance of the Calvary Village nature strip adjacent to Jaeger Circuit.
Hal Hay raised the issue of the visiting public who often miss the turn off into Jeager Circuit from Haydon Drive, so the need for clearer signposting at the junction of Haydon Drive and Jaeger Circuit needs to be reviewed and appropriate signposting erected where warranted. This matter will be covered under the “Fix My Street” initiative.
Meeting closed at 10:50 am.
