FINDING THERAPY SERVICES:
Individual Therapists Who Accept Insurance or a Sliding Scale Fee:
- This website is a search engine to help people find available therapists based on filtered preferences [and can be used in all of the US IF a therapist has signed up to their database]
- Instructions to Search for a Therapist:
- In the “Find A Therapist” search box, type in your preferred zip code, & press enter
- At the top of the searches, you now have several dropdown preference-based menus, including: Issues, Insurance, Gender, Types of Therapy, Age, Price, and “More…”
- For “Issues,” dropdown and click “Show More Issues” and check mark “Grief” and/or “Trauma and PTSD”
- For “Insurance,” check any relevant insurance providers
- For “Gender,” check a preferred gender [if any]
- For “Types of Therapy,” I strongly recommend checking “Trauma Focused” and any other types of therapies you prefer [you are welcome to ask myself or Kayla for any insight into therapies that would be most fitting]
- For “Age,” check the age range the best fits you [with Adult being 18+]
- For “Price,” check the price range that is most affordable for your financial needs; I would also strongly recommend checking “Sliding Scale” if the other ranges are inaccessible. While this doesn’t guarantee something within your range, therapists who accept a sliding scale fee typically are more likely to work with what is most doable for you!
- Find a therapist or support group by filtering for your preferences [see Psychology Today instructions above]
Support Groups or Group Therapies:
Online & App Mental Health Services:
- OpenPath: Open Path Collective
- TelaDoc: Virtual Counseling: Online Therapy & Psychiatry | Teladoc Health®
- *Please proceed with caution when exploring online mental health services, as there have been news circulating about the limitations of these types of platforms [and not always affordable, either]. However, they are accessible via virtual sessions and people have had positive experiences; trust your gut and if you need any support getting connect to a therapist, please let us know!*
FREE SUPPORT GROUPS:
NAMI - National Alliance of Mental Illness
WISDO - Smartphone app
- Allows you to share your story and connect with other people who are dealing with similar situations. You have the ability to scroll through and join various “communities” and chat with others that you can either learn from or guide.
- It is a more individualized experience than a typical support group.
- *This isn’t necessarily lead/guided by mental health therapists, so please keep that in mind when participating; it is more of a community resource than it is therapy services*
FREE PTSD/CPTSD FORUM:
- My PTSD: this is an online forum where you can reach out to other community members for support
