Introduction

This book is about the life of a very famous youtuber, Joey graceffa. In this book he opens up on what happened in his past and shared it with his fans. This book gives the readers tips on how to deal with problems in life. Something I thought the author did differently was he would put pictures of his experiences in his books, telling the reader the thing he regret doing and the things he doesn't regret doing. Joey inspires many of his fans with this book.  

   Character development

Main character- This book is about Joey graceffa’s life. Joey has a really happy and exciting personality. Joey has been through a lot of problems in his life at a very young age, but he always finds a way to make himself happy. A quote in this book that Joey used to remind himself to not give up is “It’s not where you begin that matters. It’s where you end up.” this quote he can really reflect himself on because Joey wasn’t born in a rich or happy family, but he ended up being one of the fastest growing personalities on Youtube. At 24 year old, Joey has captured hearts of more than 4 million fans with his amazing and inspiring personality. Joey brings a happy spirit when you watch his videos because the is alway positive.

Protagonist - Nicole, Joey’s sister had a really brave personality, she was Joey’s hero because she was always there for Joey at school when he got bullied. Nicole was a really popular kid in school and a lot of people liked her her until Joey  came to the school and people started to think    of her as the sister of a stupid, gay little kid. To Joey this was like Nicole sacrificing her spotlight at school for her little brother and Joey thought she was very brave. She was annoyed by Joey sometimes she took her anger and frustrations on Joey even though joey didn’t do anything wrong.  

Protagonist - Joey’s mom was a warrior and one of his fea. Joey’s mom worked at a local hair salon, she didn’t make a lot of money after she was divorced with Joey’s dad. She was remarried with Bob. He was a rich man, he changed the life of Joey’s whole family. They bought a house and his family was a whole. They were supportive of Joey’s passion and brought him a camera for him to film and that was how Joey started his Youtube career.

Antagonist- The antagonist is mostly the the bullies and school because they didnt support Joey and they just try to make Joey feel bad of himself. He learned to deal with bullies when he was very young, because he had SPED (special education) and people thought he was dumb and treated him very badly. Most of Joey’s family supported Joey on his decisions.

Symbolism

Alcohol is relatable to rehab because his  mom can’t control her drinking addiction of drinking. I think acting is something that makes Joey happy and youtube helps him from being stress. Joey liked the idea of being in front of a big audience. Joey went from having no friends in real lif into having 4 million fans. Youtube was a good place for Joey to show his personality, because he tried acting and he wasn’t good at it, he was judged by a lot of people. Their new house gave them  new life and had a chance to reconnect as a family since his parents were divorced and mom got remarried, they had to live in a little apartment that felt sad and lonely for Joey.

Inner thinking

Most of my book is inner thinking because it was the author telling us his life and some important parts of his life. I think the author uses inner thinking because since to book is based on his life, shares a lot of feelings and emotions he went through as a kid and what happened to make him feel those emotions. The author uses inner thinking because he want to show how he really felt in situations in his life. His story was very inspiring to people that is also having a hard time in their life. By Joey sharing his inner thinking his reader can relate to him.

        For example, when Joey’s mom was was going to rehab he showed how he was scared and lonely. He wanted readers to know how he felt and he showed the reader by his body language and how he wrote the story. Joey wrote the book on how he felt during his whole childhood. Time

Part of the story jumped from Joey’s mom being an alcoholic to her going to rehab. When Joey went to visit his mom in rehab he was really mad at her for leaving him alone when he needed her to care for him. In part of the book Joey says “No matter what my mom puts me through, I will always forgive her.”

There was 3 quotes that Joey was really inspired by, when going through these kind of problems.  

• “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” -Gandhi
• “Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
• “True forgiveness is when you can say, ‘Thank you for that experience.’ ” - Oprah Winfrey.

All these quotes have a meaning of saying forgiving is becoming a stronger person. These quotes inspire Joey to forgive his mother, because Joey thought what his mother did was really hard for him to handle, but at the same times his mother had a tough childhood. Joey really believes in these quotes because it helps him with his relationship with his friends and family.        

 Joey also jumped from just starting youtube and making his own video into being famous and having 4 million fans. Joey really liked the idea of having a audience and people watching him so youtube helped him not be so stressed.

Fan Fiction

I think what would happen is that Nicole doesn’t argue with her mother, and stays with Joey. So when Joey faced a lot of the problems with his mom, Nicole would be there to support him or talk to him and make feel better. When Joey was facing these problems he had a lot of mixed emotions, being scared, sad, and mad. Nicole was one of Joey’s very best friends, so if Joey had some to guide him through this hard times, I think it would make a huge difference in his life, and make him a lot more happy. Joey noticed that Joey’s mom started to come home drunk more often. One day Joey heard his mom yell “Joey I’m home!”. He knew that she was drunk, he ran to Nicole. Nicole calmed him down and called her step-dad for help.  Joey’s mom eventually ran out the house and laid down on someone else's yard. As Nicole called her step-dad.

“Hey, can you come pick mom up? I think she has gone crazy.” said Nicole

“ What?! Crazy? Ok, don’t do anything yet.” said the step-dad

“Okay, me and joey is waiting here” said Nicole

Joey’s mom is running around the neighborhood yelling, while her friend Amy was trying to keep her under control. Joey was so scared that he didn’t know who this person was in his mother's body. He wanted to get away from her. When the step-dad arrived the he calmed her down and brought her back to his house. The next day Joey find out the his mom was in rehab. He was scared of losing his mom but he wanted the best for her so, he hoped that the next time he goes to visit her he will find his real mom. Later that night Joey couldn’t sleep he spent all night thinking of what is happening with his mom, what she is thinking about or does she even remember of care for her kids? Nicole was beside Joey trying to comfort him.

“Is mom gonna be okay?” asked Joey

“ She’ll be just fine, she is just going to be gone for a little bit and she will come right back” Nicole replied

“When will she be back?” asked Joey

“Hey, are you guys ready? The step-dad interrupted

The step-dad took Joey and Nicole home.  Since Nobody was there to take care of them they moved into their step-dads house. After the step-dad drop them off at his house, he drove off to with Joey’s mom. The next day Joey had to go to school, he couldn’t focus at the work at all. All he did was question himself if his mother actually cares. When he came home he wanted to distract himself from all the things that was happening, so he made a video. Acting was one of his passion just having an audience and having people watching him made him happy. He was amazed by the idea of Youtube. He wanted to explore it so he made a channel. After that he was constantly  making videos. He didn’t get much likes, so he would create a random account and like the videos just so when people goes to look at his channel it looked like people actually like the videos he made. Nicole was very supportive of him and his channel, she thought if it made him happy then she would let him do it.  

Conclusion

Overall this book was very interesting to read because the book was about Joey Graceffa’s childhood and when fans are watching his videos the fans see his as a fun and positive person, but the viewers don’t see what kind of childhood Joey has been through. I recommend this book to people that are Joey’s fan or like to read non-fiction book will like this book. I read this book because I really liked Joey’s videos on Youtube so I was curious of what he wrote in his book.
