Middle School Lego Robotics Team
2019-20 Student Information and Application
Registration is open for students interested in being a part of the 2019-20 competitive Robo Challenge Xtreme Teams. Students who are currently in 5th-7th grade are eligible to apply. The following skills are a must for students interested in being a part of a successful robotics team:
- Cooperation
- Teamwork
- Problem Solving
- Leadership
- Self-Motivation
If you are new to robotics at SOMS, EOMS, OCMS, or NOMS you must attend the Summer Tryout Camp (see below). Students must commit to the following dates to be considered for the team:
Summer Team Training Camp and Tryout
- June 10th and 11th—South Oldham Middle School, 10am-3pm
- Free to all participants, lunch will be provided.
- Students who apply will be notified by Friday, May 24th if they’ve received an invitation to the camp.
- Students will be evaluated at this training camp to determine placement on the competition team for the fall, therefore, attendance is mandatory.
Weekly Team Meetings, September-March
- Team meeting dates and times will be set by the coach at the beginning of the year and will include some mornings and/or after school times.
- Meetings may increase in length and frequency as the competition comes closer.
- If the team advances to state competition, April practices will be scheduled.
Competition Dates
**Regional—tentatively scheduled for March 21, 2020…will be confirmed by event sponsors this fall.
**State—historically the week after spring break (middle of April)

- Application is due by Friday, May 17th.
Team selections will be made and announced by coaches on an individual basis after the mandatory tryout camp.
