- Agenda?
- Tuesday June 30th 2015, 14 to 18 pm, dinner until 21 pm?
- Location: Universität Bern (Matthias organizes room)
- Agenda?
Branding: Opendata.ch vs. Open Knowledge vs. Open Knowledge International vs. Opendata.swiss…
- Oleg ordered stickers on moo.com with a Swiss “Open Knowledge” logo.
- The federal data portal is rumored to be running on http://opendata.swiss in the future - which would be rather confusing.
- André owns pretty much all .ch domain names around open data / open knowledge
- The current brand / design has significant value and costed a lot of time and money.
- Let’s take a decision:
- Keep opendata.ch for the time being, focus on that brand.
- Be liberal/confusing and use both the Open Knowledge brand as well as opendata.ch.
- Prepare to give up opendata.ch and transition to the Open Knowledge brand name.
-> Subject to be discussed more in detail during the next board retreat on January 13
-> Until then, version i. is being applied
Opendata.ch Conference 2015
- 1 July 2015 all rooms on 1st level at main building of University of Bern reserved
- Asked Regierungsrätin Beatrice Simon for closing keynote at around 16h, she is probably coming
- Concept: as usual, or some new form?
- Responsibility / some committee / track chairs?
- Budget?
- Annual member meeting
-> Plan: Discuss about the form of the conference before January 13
-> Muriel will set up a google doc and share it with the board
-> Matthias started to invite people for the conference, but has not yet further concrete plans about the conference
-> Intention: Integrate the General Assembly again in the main program of the conference
Pending Tasks
-> Board members will have a look at their respective biography on http://opendata.ch/organisation/board/ & http://fr.opendata.ch/organisation/comite/
-> check for mistakes and/or outdated info
-> send Muriel the corrected version via eMail or update it yourself via wordpress
Open Transport Working Group
- Interesting conversations with top-level mgmt
- Large upcoming event at SBB, with CIO etc, next Monday at Stade de Suisse
- Next steps are to be political.
Open GLAM Working Group
-> Opendata.ch and Wikimedia CH as official partners of the Hackathon
-> Micha L. Rieser will presumably take over the organization of the event
-> Muriel keeps the board updated on the ongoing organisation of the event
Open Research Data Working Group
- is openresearchdata.ch a WG… or becoming one?
- Open Science/Research Data Hackday” in May 2015: Status Update André
-> Concrete next steps have to be defined (André in charge)
-> Yann willing to help ASAP (cf. also Hackuarium.ch activities)
Open Finance Working Group

-> As Matthias is no longer in the Skype Call, please read these points carefully
Exchange of information
- Good open data stuff at Lift 2014 Basel: Chas Bountra / http://www.thesgc.org (powerful call for Open Research re: drug dicovery)
-> Video will be out soon and Opendata.ch (Hannes/Muriel) will communicate about it
-> Input from Chas Bountra will be valuable for Open Research Data Working Group
- Good open data stuff at Lift 2015 Geneva: Russel Davies + Opencorporates (Chris Taggart @CountCulture will be present 5-7 February)(cf. #flashhacks, Oleg and Yann met them at OKFest Berlin)
-> Come up with ideas to make sure Russel Davies gets in touch with our partners
-> Let Hannes know if you have an idea
- Oleg is starting work on an “OGD Handbook” project to conceptualise and start accessible documentation for government. While this is not immediately relevant to Opendata.ch, the goal is to cross-pollinate & -promote down the road.
- If anyone is interested in taking part in a School of Data workshop next year, please send Oleg a note and let’s collaborate.
Varia
- Idea of an “Open” Space in Lausanne:
Wikimedia CH is looking for a new office in Lausanne
Idea: Build an “open & free knowledge” hub in Lausanne, in collaboration with like-minded partner institutions such as Opendata.ch, OSM etc.
Request: Is this of interest to Opendata.ch?
-> Input Yann: UniverCity.ch is an Open Community Lab, and it still has plenty of space ;)
-> e.g. meeting space available for 50+ people, co-working for 20-25 people
-> Opendata.ch sees no need at the moment for such a space in Zurich nor Lausanne
-> Clustering WMCH & UniverCity -> Yann & Muriel will see with WMCH
- Update from Mehdi: Event planned for 2015 by LeTemps
Target: Chance to bring all Opendata Communities together in the western part of Switzerland during a Conference, hosted by LeTemps
What: Hackathon/Conference to find new ways for storytelling
Who: Experts, Developers
When: Probably November 2015
-> Input Yann:
Careful: 3rd week of Nov. = Global Entrepreneurship Week (i.e. Startup WeekEnd GE)
-> Conclusion:
Mehdi goes ahead with organizing the event and will keep the board of Opendata.ch posted
