Laszlo gets the utmost grace into a portrait of an elderly lady, “Mrs. Blackie,” [13269] giving a striking quality of reality without losing the courtly flattery that a fashionable portrait artist must excel in. Other notabilities are Rothenstein, Anning Bell, Pryde, Glyn Philpots, and Sir David Murray. But nothing is more worthy of interest than the contribution of two pictures by Constant Montald, a Belgian artist.
