Hotel Ritz
Saturday
Dear Mr Laszló
It was so kind of you to remember my desire to see your portrait of the Cesse [Comtesse] Greffuhle [4247] and it was a great disappointment not to
[Page 2]
be able to go at the hour you appointed. We had an engagement which it was impossible to break – Could we stop for you at your hotel to get you to take us tomorrow Sunday at 12? Of course
[Page 3]
we don’t want to trouble you or the Duc de Guiche[1] so you must telephone “no” if it wouldn’t be convenient.
Hoping in our case to see you and you work in the futur | I am most sincerely
Alice warder Garrett

He often lent de László his studio at 42 bis Avenue Henri-Martin, where, over the years, many distinguished portraits were painted.
