TW; bullying, suicide, sexual content, death threats
This document was written by multiple people who were around at the time and has screenshots from the victim to corroborate the events. This was originally published 23rd March 2026, additions made on 24th March 2026 are marked in blue.
Fish was one of the many people who became friends with GHOST via the rotating circuit of people in April 2016 when he was 14 years old.
He was present in large group chats with GHOST (seen here as “invisible dead thing”) and many other young people. The heavy topics and ways of talking about yourself used in these group chats was something that influenced Fish and many others to continuously view themselves in a negative light. It’s not to say that these thoughts are entirely GHOST’s fault, but they were not discouraged.
Due to various factors, a lot of the people in these groups were young and mentally ill, Fish not being an exception as seen in the previous screenshot. He was extremely isolated, terminally online and undiagnosed and unmedicated for his disabilities. He would push others away, talk about wanting to die/disappear and unknowingly guilt trip the people around him. But he was also 15 when most of this took place.
Addressing things The original doc here.
Asking Fish, he struggles to recall an event like this beyond a vague recollection of being shooed out of a call for something he shouldn't see. Based on that doc and the other evidence presented below, there was a strange tolerance for sexual content in spaces that had a wide range of ages but likely a lack of malicious intent.
Umber also reached out to Fish in 2026 apologising personally.
GHOST commenting this (@GhostOnMarz) on Fish’s selfie (he is 15 at this point).
Group chat encouraging and laughing at Fish voice acting part of a hentai (some other members here are also minors, users like Antorii were adults Fish remembered Antorii being in their 20s but they were 17 and turned 18 around four months after this incident).
There are so many incidents from between April 2016 and November-December 2016 that could be discussed but evidence has been lost to time and only exists in recollections of those who were there.
When asked, Fish couldn’t recall exact dates for when he was cut off but estimates between November and December 2016 (we received confirmation it was in early December 2016). He was blocked from GHOST and many other peoples accounts and left to fend for himself.
There was a separate semi-irl friend group that he was excommunicated from in an extremely harsh way in relation to this but that will be brought up later. In January 2017, a callout post was made in collaboration with that friend group and GHOST about Fish. The post, which was thought for many years to be lost to time, was uncovered.
You can read it below, but the thoughts of the writers and many others who have read it was that it was an interpersonal drama between teenagers that could have been a DM or an email, and only had so much attention brought to it due to being co-written by GHOST.

Fish, at the time, never read it and was contacted by several people from both friend groups trying to goad him into reading it, including by getting upset when he blocked their burners for sending death threats.
(side note: the person previously known as Lostie V was barely involved and no longer associates with these people).
Fish made a public apology on his Tumblr as well as sending a personal apology to GHOST. The public apology has been lost to time, but the email apology as well as GHOST’s non-response can be seen below.
The message and response to the previous friend group
Fish deleted almost all of his accounts and disappeared from the internet except for being active on VocaDB as a fan for several years and focused on other interests.
Shortly after the falling out between Fish and Ghost, Ghost began planning a vaguepost song about the situation. This was originally intended to be a collaborative project for everyone in the friend group. The original intent was that the PV would be a pixel-art style video where the personas of everyone in the friend group fight in a boss fight against Fish’s persona. That plan did not come to fruition and Ghost wound up making the more unassuming PV that ended up being posted.
GHOST asking Lostie V to pass the message on (seen previously).
Around this time, the friend group had multiple Discord channels and possibly an entire Discord server dedicated to shit talking Fish.
Shortly after the song’s upload, Ghost found a vent account that they believed belonged to Fish on Tumblr. They found it by keyword searching “Distortionist” and finding one of their vent posts about the song. Either they or one of their friends intentionally followed the account in order to let Fish know they were watching. The account was promptly deleted. It’s important to note that Fish does not remember having an account like this as he did not know The Distortionist was about him until he received an apology in 2021. While this account did not belong to him, the intent to scare and intimidate him is important to note.
One of Ghost’s former friends has made an estimate of how much profit Ghost may have made off of the Distortionist based on the amount of money they make per-stream on their own music. The estimate is over $30,000 across the entire time the song has been posted. As this estimate was done a few years ago, this amount could have gone up. Ghost did demonetize the video on YouTube after apologizing to Fish, and did offer to delete it. Fish declined as he knew the song would be reuploaded anyways.
However, it is important to note that Ghost continues to profit off of this song as it is still on streaming services. There is no way to disable monetization on a song that is on streaming services, so they continue to pocket money that came from running a teenager off of the internet and painting him in a terrible light.
For years after Fish’s disappearance and the upload of this song, the entire friend group would lurk on Fish’s VocaDB account and keep tabs on him. They would also theorize about accounts they thought might be Fish and would stalk those accounts as well.
When he resumed posting activities in the early 2020’s, Fish created a burner email and posted it in the description of a video on his channel. GHOST reached out to him via this email in 2021 and apologised for the events. Fish accepted this apology, having had the suspicion The Distortionist was related to him but unaware of the extent of the bullying mentioned in the previous section at the time. Fish was content to let the past go due to him wanting to move on.
When Covetous was posted, The Distortionist incident was brought into the public eye again and Fish became nervous but tried to lay low, responding this to a user who sent an inquiry to the burner account about the validity of the claim.
The recent posts on GHOST’s now deleted Bluesky were very troubling, especially this downplaying of interactions between Fish and Umber without any mention of how Fish was treated.
Fish is in a much better mental space than he was when these events transpired and does not want to be publicly associated with this drama, but felt compelled to have his story told in more clear terms due to the other docs coming out.
Another party who was around during the incident got in contact with us to offer more screenshots and 2 minor additions to the original document.
Please see that document here below.
