“The Strange Expedition”
Daniel
I have butterflies in my belly. I’m in the spacecraft counting down. One minute till take off, the speakers scream. It feels like forever, but at the same time it’s going fast as a cheetah. 20 seconds till take off! The guy next to me starts praying. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5—TAKE OFF! Those last five second disappeared as the engines start roaring. “Here we go!” I yell.
Bang! I don’t know what happened next because something must have knocked me out, or I fainted. Either way, we can see Mercury now, and we are ready to land. All seven of us. “Our mission is simple,” the captain yells. “Find a civilization and report back.”
I’m not listening, but I am looking at our boarding craft and see how small it is. I blurt out, “How are we all going to fit in that thing?” I probably shouldn’t have said that because cap looks angry.
Cap finally says, “We have a job to do, so we need to do it.”
