Joan's Reach Chili Cook Off

The first Joan's Reach Chili Cook Off event on October 13, 2012 was a resounding success!

With over 70 people in attendance, 9 delicious chilis, countless other tasty dishes and desserts, and fantastic weather... we could not have asked for a better day!  What an amazing way to honor our daughter, Joan Louise, and celebrate the impact she continues to have on the world.

We are honored and tremendously grateful for the generosity of all who attended, as well as those who could not attend but sent generous contributions.  Donations will be used to help us launch Joan's Reach.

We will purchase books, produce brochures and informational materials to distribute to local medical professionals and families, to raise awareness of the support and options available for families facing a devastating prenatal diagnosis.  We are committed to ensuring that all families have adequate support and are presented with options when they receive a life-limiting diagnosis with their unborn child, especially as prenatal testing becomes more common and advanced.

Our compliments and gratitude to the stars of the event -- the CHILI COOKS -- for your dedication, enthusiasm for some healthy competition, and most of all for providing such delicious chili for everyone.  We were truly impressed with the uniqueness and flavor of each and every chili and wish we had prizes for all!

Special recognition to our winners:

Joan's Reach Chili Champion 2012 (1st Place Popular Vote) - Spiderman Surprise Chili.  The most team spirit complete with costumes and banners!

Most Dedicated Chef 2012 - Two huge pots of Rob's Sweet Goodness Chili earned the second most popular votes.

Most Original 2012 - Heavenly Chocolate Chili, a sweet hit!

Best Non-Chili 2012 - Tomalito.  There was enough to feed a small army, and we couldn't get enough of it!

Thanks again, from the bottom of our hearts, for sharing a special day with us and supporting a cause so dear to our hearts. With your help our daughter's legacy will provide improved support to families when they need it most.  Thank you for helping us expand Joan's Reach.
