PRIVACY POLICY

Last Updated: August 2026

1. INTRODUCTION

Notebook AI is operated by Egeskov Ventures LLC, a Delaware limited liability company located in the United States ("we," "us," or "our"). We are the controller of the personal data described below.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application and related services.

Notebook AI does not require you to create an account, and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact detail.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Anonymous Account Identifier

The App needs a stable identifier so your library stays attached to your device. The first time you launch the App, it silently creates an anonymous account identified by a randomly generated ID. No email address, name, or contact information is requested or collected.

For technical reasons our authentication provider requires an address-shaped value, so the App generates an internal placeholder of the form device-<random>@users.notebookai.app. This is not a real mailbox, is not associated with you, and cannot be used to contact you. The associated credentials are stored only in your device's Keychain.

2.2 Information You Provide

  • PDF Documents: The content of any PDF you upload for podcast generation.
  • Podcast Content: The scripts and audio generated from your PDFs, plus related metadata (file name, title, chosen language, job status, timestamps).
  • Communications: If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.

2.3 Information Automatically Collected

  • Device Context: Platform (iOS/iPadOS), operating system version, app version and build number, and device locale.
  • Installation Identifier: An app-generated random ID stored on the device to count installs and de-duplicate events. It is not the device's hardware identifier and is not shared across apps.
  • Product Analytics: A limited set of in-app events — install, app launch, paywall viewed, subscription plan selected, PDF imported, podcast creation started/queued/completed, podcast played, podcast shared — plus your selected default podcast language.
  • Subscription Events: Product identifier, transaction identifiers, purchase amount and currency, and App Store storefront country, received from Apple's StoreKit.
  • Server Logs: Our cloud infrastructure providers record standard request logs, including IP address, for security, abuse prevention, and service delivery.

2.4 What We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your email address, name, phone number, or postal address.
  • We do not collect the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and the App does not track you across other apps or websites. No App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown because no such tracking occurs.
  • We do not use cookies, advertising pixels, or similar cross-site tracking technologies. The App is a native app and does not use web tracking technologies.
  • We do not collect crash reports or performance traces through our own analytics. If you have enabled Apple's "Share With App Developers" setting, Apple may provide us with aggregate crash data under Apple's own privacy terms.
  • We do not collect contacts, photos, location, health data, or microphone input.
  • We do not include third-party advertising or data-broker SDKs.

2.5 Payment Information

We do not collect or process payment information. Subscription payments are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. To match a subscription to your anonymous account, the App attaches an app-account token derived from your anonymous account ID to the purchase; Apple does not share your payment details, name, or Apple Account email with us.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

3.1 Service Delivery

  • Process your PDFs and generate podcast scripts and audio
  • Store and manage your library so it is available when you reopen the App
  • Enable playback of created content
  • Deliver and verify subscription entitlements
  • Respond to support requests you send us

3.2 Improvement & Development

  • Analyze aggregate usage and conversion patterns to improve features
  • Diagnose technical failures reported to us
  • Measure subscription performance

We do not use your PDFs, scripts, or generated audio to train our own AI models, and our AI processing providers are instructed not to use content submitted through the Service to train their models.

3.3 Communication

Because we do not collect an email address, we cannot send you marketing or service email. Notifications about your podcasts are delivered as local notifications generated on your device — no push tokens are sent to our servers. Changes to this Policy are published at the link below and, for significant changes, surfaced in the App.

If you email our support address, we will reply to that address.

3.4 Legal & Safety

  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats
  • Enforce our Terms of Use and other agreements

4. DATA STORAGE & RETENTION

4.1 Where Data is Stored

  • PDFs, generated audio, scripts, and podcast metadata are stored on Firebase / Google Cloud Platform servers located in the United States.
  • Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by our cloud provider.
  • Your default language preference and anonymous credentials are stored locally on your device (in app storage and the Keychain respectively).

4.2 Retention Policy

  • PDFs, scripts, and generated podcasts: retained while the anonymous account remains in use, until you request deletion.
  • Account records: deleted within 30 days of a verified deletion request, except where longer retention is required by law.
  • Analytics and subscription events: retained for up to 24 months.
  • Server logs: retained according to our cloud provider's standard log retention periods.

4.3 Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data by contacting magicchatios@gmail.com (Subject: notebook ai). Because accounts are anonymous, we cannot locate your data from an email address alone — we will reply with instructions for retrieving your account identifier from the App so we can find and delete the correct records. We will complete deletion within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Note that deleting the App from your device does not by itself delete data already stored on our servers.

5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Notebook AI is primarily operated using Google Cloud infrastructure and selected service providers. These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary to provide, secure, and support the Service. We do not disclose our proprietary prompts, models, workflows, or implementation details.

5.1 Firebase / Google Cloud

We use Firebase and Google Cloud for cloud hosting, anonymous authentication, databases, file storage, job processing, security, and related infrastructure. Uploaded PDFs, generated podcast content, and related metadata may be processed or stored within these services.

Privacy Policy: https://cloud.google.com/terms/cloud-privacy-notice

5.2 Proprietary Document and Audio Processing

Our proprietary processing function transforms uploaded documents into podcast content and audio. This processing is hosted primarily on Google Cloud and may use cloud-based AI and audio-generation capabilities acting on our behalf. We do not disclose the internal methods, prompts, models, or workflow used to provide this functionality.

5.3 Apple / App Store

Subscription processing. Apple receives and processes all payment data.

Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/privacy/

5.4 SuperAppAnalytics

Our first-party analytics service, receiving the limited event and device data described in Section 2.3. It is not an advertising network and does not sell or share data.

Third-party providers may update or change their services from time to time. Their handling of information is also governed by their own privacy policies and applicable agreements.

6. DATA SHARING & DISCLOSURE

6.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal information for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising.

6.2 Information We Share

  • Service Providers: the providers listed in Section 5, only as needed to operate the App
  • Legal Compliance: when required by law, court order, or valid government request
  • Business Transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale
  • With Your Consent: when you explicitly authorize sharing

6.3 Aggregated & Anonymized Data

We may share aggregated, non-identifying statistics about usage patterns.

7. DATA SECURITY

7.1 We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption of data at rest by our cloud provider
  • Per-account access rules so one account cannot read another's files
  • Device credentials stored in the iOS Keychain

7.2 While we strive to protect your data, no security system is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk.

7.3 If we discover a data breach affecting you, we will notify you in-app and by any other means required by applicable law. Because we hold no email address for you, in-app and public notice are our primary channels.

8. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

8.1 Access & Portability

You may request a copy of the data associated with your anonymous account. Contact magicchatios@gmail.com (Subject: notebook ai).

8.2 Correction & Deletion

Your library is visible in the App. You may request deletion of your account and associated data as described in Section 4.3. The App does not store profile information for you to correct, because none is collected.

8.3 Analytics

The App does not offer a separate analytics opt-out; the events described in Section 2.3 are used to operate and improve the service and are not tied to any real-world identity. iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements controls Apple's own data sharing and does not affect the events described here. If you want your analytics records deleted, contact us as described in Section 4.3.

To exercise these rights, email magicchatios@gmail.com with "CCPA Request" in the subject line. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization. 8.4a Other U.S. State Privacy Laws

Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and Montana — have comparable rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and profiling with legal effects. 8.5 EU/UK Residents (GDPR)

You have rights to access, rectify, and erase your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We process your PDFs to perform the service you requested (contract), and process analytics and security data on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and improving the App. Data is transferred to the United States under the safeguards used by our cloud providers.

8.6 Canadian Residents (PIPEDA)

Canadian residents have rights including access, correction, and deletion of personal information.

9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

9.1 Notebook AI is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users under 13.

9.2 If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

9.3 The App collects no contact information from any user, which limits the data available about younger users in the same way as for everyone else.

9.4 Parents concerned about their child's use may contact us at magicchatios@gmail.com (Subject: notebook ai).

10. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

We are established in the United States, and all data described in this Policy is stored and processed in the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed there, and U.S. data protection law may differ from the law of your country.

For transfers of personal data out of the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum where applicable) as incorporated into our agreements with our processors, together with the technical and organizational measures described in Section 7. You may request further information at the contact address below.

11. TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

Notebook AI is a native iOS app. It does not use cookies, web beacons, advertising pixels, or any cross-app or cross-site tracking technology, and it does not access the Advertising Identifier. Analytics are limited to the first-party events described in Section 2.3.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes become effective when posted, and continued use of the App constitutes acceptance. For significant changes we will provide notice in the App.
