Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students:

Welcome to 8th Grade!  We are looking forward to working with you and completing a successful school year!  As you know, communication is vital between students, parents, and teachers.  This year, the 8th grade teachers will be utilizing a few tools to keep parents and students up to date.

With our ParentVue and StudentVue programs, parents and students are able to view grades at any time.  Teachers can also email grades and information if correct emails are entered in the program.  Please be certain all data is up to date.

Homework:. For all core classes, work not completed in class that day becomes homework, unless otherwise directed by the teacher.  Please refer to the KAOL website for updates and calendars which will list assignments.  8th graders are expected to be organized and responsible. Students MUST turn work in on time.  Acceptance of late work is at the discretion of the teacher.

Absence Work: Please call the office (692-5265) to notify the school of your child’s absence.  KAOL Policy for absences states students have 2 days to make up assignment. For example, if your child is absent on Monday, pick up their work on Monday by 5:00 p.m., and the work is due Wednesday in class.  If at any time you know your child is going to miss school for anything, please inform the teachers ahead of time, so we can get the work to you prior to his or her absence. Please do not allow your child to leave school early without checking with each teacher for missed assignments.

REMIND: 8th Grade teachers may also communicate with you via an App called REMIND.  It is free and allows communication by text without having to disclose personal cell phone numbers.  Information can also be received as an email, if preferred. If you choose to use REMIND, you will need to enroll with each teacher’s code.

You will text each code to the following number: 81010.

Or, you can email  ____________@mail.remind.com to receive email REMIND messages (the class code goes in the blank)
