Step by Step Instructions to Apply for NSHAHS Using the Veracross Admissions Portal.

  1. If you are new to the school you should navigate to and click on the Apply Now icon Screen Shot 2016-06-10 at 9.27.25 AM.png. You may have to scroll down below the video to find this link.


        Proceed to Step 2.


  1. On the “Apply Now” page, you must choose either the Red path or the Blue path.

The Red Path is for all families who are new to NSHAHS. This means you have not had another child apply, attend or graduate from North Shore Hebrew Academy High School.

Clicking this path will bringing you to step 3 below. If you need further assistance, click the Help button.

The Blue Path is for all families who have either had a child who applied, attended or graduated from NSHAHS -OR- you are a staff parent.

           [CURRENT PARENTS (or FACULTY PARENTS): If you already have a student in the school, you should login to the Parent Portal (or Faculty Portal) with your username and password to add an additional application. If you do not have your parent portal login information, please call the school at 516-487-2424 and ask for Alissa Levy or Robin Wilensky.

PARENTS WHO DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN CURRENTLY IN THE SCHOOL: Please contact Alissa Levy or Robin Wilensky at 516-487-2424 if one of the following is true.

  1. One or more of your children graduated from NSHAHS but no children currently attend.
  2. One or more of your children applied to NSHAHS but not did enroll.

Please call to reactivate your account.

FOR ALL PARENTS: After logging in, navigate to the Admissions Portal and please click on “Add New Applicant”. Then skip to step 10 below.]

        You must enter your last name in the field that says Family Name. It is a required field. You must also enter your address, city, state, zip (postal code), country and home phone number. The address you enter should be the address where the student primarily resides.

 If you do not have a home phone, you may list your cell phone number here. This should be a parent’s cell phone number and not the student’s. When you have entered this information, click “Save and Continue”.

  1. The next page is the “Applicant” page where you will enter information about the student applying.

Click “Add an Applicant” and you will be brought to this next screen.

At this point, you will enter the student’s first and last name (and optionally a preferred name), the gender, and the student’s personal email address. If the student does not have an email address, please go to and have he or she create one.

Then click Save and Continue.

At this point you will see something that looks like this:

except with your own information. If you have more than one child applying, you can add an additional applicant and then follow the same procedure you just did. Otherwise, click “Save and Continue”.

  1. The next screen is to enter information about “Parents”.

        Here you will enter information about each parent. The first parent entered will be considered the primary parent. Click “Add a Parent” to continue.

You will be brought to this screen:

The required fields are:

  1. Your relationship to the applicant
  2. Your first and last name
  3. Your personal email address. If you do not have one, please go to to create one. This CAN NOT be the same as the student’s email address. It must be a valid email address as the system will send you an email with your parent portal login credentials so that you may continue the application process.
  4. Your mobile phone numbers
  5. Your marital status
  6. Creating a user account for this parent -> this is required for at least the first parent being entered. Additional parents are not required to have a user account.

PLEASE NOTE: If your personal email address is an AOL account, then you may have trouble receiving the welcome email with your login credentials. It is *highly encouraged* that you use a different email account (or create a gmail account) to use with the portal. If you choose to use your AOL account and do NOT receive an email with your login information to the inbox or spam, please contact the Admissions Department at 516-487-2424 x1112. Thank you.

        Please verify that the address information matches your home address. If it does, you may click “Save and Continue”. If your address is different from the address of the applicant, please enter your address now and then click “Save and Continue”.

You will see something like this but with your information:

To add another parent click “Add a Parent”. Otherwise, click “Save and Continue”.

  1. The next page is called “Inquiry”. It is used to find out how you heard of our school, what made you interested in us and what follow up steps you would like.

        Select as many of the items as you would like. If you do not want any of the items above, simply select “Apply Now”. (When you complete the review of your inquiry you will be directed to the next phase of the application)

When you have completed this form, please click “Save and Continue”.

  1. The next page asks you to review all the information you just entered. This shows a snippet of the page (the bottom) where the Submit button is.

As you can see, you can click Edit on any section that requires modification before you click Submit. When you are ready, click the “Submit” button.

  1. You have now completed the initial steps of the application process. You will see a notification that your Inquiry is complete.

  1. Your next step is to open the email that was sent to you with your login credentials. The email with all the subject of “Your North Shore Hebrew Academy High School Admissions Portal Login” and will look like this:

Thank you for completing Part 1 of the Admissions Application for North Shore Hebrew Academy High School. You are not done yet.

Please login to our Admissions Portal to continue applying by completing Part 2 of the Admissions Application.

The username for {first_name} is: {Username}

Before logging in, you must choose a password. Please set your password now. After choosing a password, you will be logged in automatically.

Once you have logged in, you will be able to manage your online application and check the status of your application for each of your children who are applying.

To continue with the application, you must click on the link that says “set your password” and create a password that follows the password guidelines and that you will remember.

The set password screen will look like this:

You will be automatically be directed to the Admissions Portal Login page. Use your email address and your newly created password to login.  The direct link to the Admissions Portal is: Admissions Portal should you want to return to the Admissions Portal at a later date. You can also find this link in your email or on the NSHAHS website under Admissions -> Admissions FAQ.

Click “View Application”. This will take you to the next steps for the student. Do NOT click “Add New Applicant” - this is for adding additional students who will be applying. You will only do this if you have multiple children who are applying at the same time (twins, siblings where one or more are transfer students, etc….) Once you click “View Application” you will see a list of forms and checklist items to complete.

  1. Begin by clicking “Complete your Student Questionnaire”.  This will open a pop-up window that looks like this:

        There will be multiple parts to complete in this popup. You must complete them in order.

  1. The Student Questionnaire is designed to get more information about the applicant. You must complete each of the tabs shown in the pop-up as follows. The first form is to get more information about the Applicant as shown above.

The required fields are date of birth, place of birth, synagogue affliliation and whether or not you have previously applied to the school. The other fields are requested, but not required.

Click “Save and Continue” to move to the next section.

  1. Information about the applicant’s schooling next. You will see something like this:

If no school is listed, click “Add an Applicant’s School”. If a school is listed, click Edit.

Please select your school from the drop down list and then advance to the item listed Current School and continue through Additional Comments. Current School and Grades Attended are required fields. If your school is not listed, fill out the entire form.

Click “Save and Continue” twice. This will move you to the next section.

  1.  The next section is regarding the applicant’s interests:

Click “Add an Interest” and you will see this screen appear:

Fill in the form, click “Save and Continue” and repeat for as many interests as you would like to list. This form is optional. If your interest isn’t listed, enter it in “Additional Notes”. Click “Save and Continue” when you are done entering all interests to advance to the next screen.

  1. The next screen is the questionnaire. The Questionnaire has a number of short answer questions that the applicant must answer.

The following questions are required.

These next questions are optional.

Click “Save and Continue” to advance to the next screen.

  1. At this point, you will be at a Review screen. Please carefully review each section and make edits where necessary.

When you are satisfied that everything is correct, please click Submit at the bottom. You will have to scroll down to see the Submit button.

  1. When you have clicked submit, you will see a notification that your form has been submitted.

You can click “Return to Application” at the bottom or the Orange X at the top right to return to the application. You will note that the Orange Required label has changed to a Green Complete label with the date it was completed.

  1. Your next step is to “Complete your Parent Questionnaire”. Click the button to continue. The Parent Questionnaire is required and must be completed by one of the applicant’s parents or legal guardians.

Click “Save and Continue” to proceed to the “Review” screen. Review your answers and click “Submit” when you are satisfied

Once again, click the Orange “Return to Application” or the Orange “X” to return.

  1.  The next major component is Demographic Information. When you click on “Complete your Demographic Information” a popup that looks like this will appear:

Click “Add Parent Info” to add more details about the parent, or to add additional parents.

  1. At this point, there are several required fields for parents.

First select the parent that the information below will apply to from the “To which parent does this apply?” drop down box. This should be the parent that you entered during the inquiry process. After you complete all the required information for this parent, you can then Add Another Parent and using the fields in the “add a new parent section”.

To add an additional parent, enter the name, relationship, personal email, marital status and user account information. Only enter an address or phone number if it is different from the primary household address.

For additional and existing parents, enter a mobile phone number is required and employment information and schooling information is requested, where applicable.

When complete, click “Save and Continue”. When finished entering all parents, click “Save and Continue” to move to the next section.

  1.  The next two sections ask about siblings and grandparents respectively. Please add any siblings of the applicant who are NOT also applying. For example, if you have twins and both are applying, do not enter the sibling here. But, do enter alumni siblings, currently enrolled siblings, siblings who are not yet old enough to apply or siblings who attend another school.

Click “Save and Continue”. Repeat for each additional sibling, and click “Save and Continue” when finished entering all siblings.

Entering grandparents is optional, but click “Add a Grandparent” and then “Save and Continue” if you choose to add them.

  1. The next screen is the Confirmation Screen. It will allow you to review the information entered thus far. The important part is at the bottom -> scroll to where it says “Final Information”.

Make sure to select all applicants’ that this information applies to. In other words, this allows you to enter multiple applicants living in the same household but with different parents based on custody situations.

Click Submit when ready.

  1. On the Finished screen, click Return to Application.
  2. The next category is application fee. North Shore Hebrew Academy High School does not accept credit cards for the application fee at this time. Please make checks payable to the school and bring with you to the interview. This section will not turn Green until this your check is received.
  3. The next step is the Applicant Photo. This is a required step.

Please click Select photo file. This will open up File Explorer or Finder on your computer. Please select the photo you would like to use. The photo should be a picture showing only the applicant from head to shoulders and appropriately dressed. The face should fill almost the whole space (think: headshot) and should be a recent photo.

After you have selected the image and clicked OK, you will see the file name.

Click Upload Photo and the page will refresh, displaying your photo. If you don’t like the way it looks, you can upload another image to try again.

  1. Finally, the transcript release form is an optional category. You can download the form provided and give it to the applicant’s current school to request that a transcript be sent to North Shore Hebrew Academy High School. It is optional in that not all schools will require this form. However, you must bring your transcript with you to your interview.

Congratulations! Your Application is Now Complete and is Being Processed. You will be contacted to schedule an interview date shortly.
