Dear Monsieur de László
I am so distressed that I must give up sitting for you - (as you so very kindly said I might) till the autumn. My husband[1] has had a bad motor accident. & motor simultaneously - & has a deep cut on his forehead, & is very shaken. It was a terrible time for both of us - but all is well so far. I know you will understand - & allow me to have my wedding present [10003] from you later on.[2]
We are both so touched at your great kindness in giving us the Sketch
Yours very sincerely
Irène Vernon Harcourt
P.S.
I do hope Mdm de László is keeping well.
