THIS WEEK’S PRIORITIES

CANVASS! CANVASS! CANVASS! Make sure voters in Berks know what’s at stake. Sign up to knock doors with Indivisible Berks and Sunrise Berks. Here's the link to register: bit.ly/IB2019-2

Town Hall Anyone? Congress is in recess until October 14th. Our elected officials are supposed to use this time to work in their districts and engage with us -the constituents they represent. It’s the perfect time for them to hold public town halls and hear our concerns live and in person. With the president publicly soliciting foreign countries to interfere in the 2020 election and a formal impeachment inquiry launched in the House, it’s more important than ever that our voices are heard on this and other pressing issues facing our community.

P.S. Where Is Dan? Berks Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) has been virtually AWOL in our county and is one of the more egregious offenders when it comes to accountability. His voting record, rigorous defense of the Trump administration and his October 1st commentary (CLICK HERE to read it. It’s a doozy!) require a raucous response. If you live in his district, please write a Letter to the Editor of 250 words max to letters@readingeagle.com.

RESIST! On Tuesday October 8th, SCOTUS will hear arguments in three separate cases to determine whether LGBTQ people are protected in the workplace by the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Demonstrators will gather in DC on the steps of the Supreme Court on Tuesday to send a message to the Court, to the Trump Administration, to ALL 2020 candidates and to the American people that we will FIGHT for our rights and for the rights of our loved ones we will NOT go back! If you’re not able to join them in person, you can do it in spirit. Please help amplify the message by calling your legislators and taking to social media. Use the hashtags #WeAreTheWorkforce, #RiseUpOct8, and #SaveTitleVII  To read more about the court cases CLICK HERE
