Hot, hot, hot! That's all I can think. The  sun blazes down onto my cheeks and back, all over I’m  sweaty, and my hair is sticking to my forehead and neck. Finally we step into a shady building. A breeze hits me, and I feel instantly better. I looked all around at all the awesome, hands-on exhibits. I stop myself from running with excitement.  Then I glance in front of me… STAIRS! Oh no, they’re my worst enemy. I clamber up and after only one flight of stairs I’m  already puffing. Luckily we are soon in yet another room where we can sit down. Mellisa (Our educator) stood at the front of the room and once everybody had settled down and was quiet she began to speak. “Ok, hello everybody, my name is Melissa and today I’m your educator. So anyway today I will explain to you a bit about toys, old and new.” she paused to catch her breath. “Ok first let's look at this table, so these are all toys from the old days so here is my favourite” she explained. Then she lifted up a weird looking man holding a box of cereal. And she started up again “So his name is Sunny Jim and he is over 100 years old.” there were “Ohh’s” and “Ahh’s” from the class all around. “Sunny Jim is special, because you couldn’t buy him from shops, you had to get a packet of cereal like this one over here.” She pointed to the box of cereal Sunny Jim had in his hands. I imagined opening my cereal in the morning and tipping the whole contents into my bowl, then peeping in at the bottom of the box because I felt something else was in there. I imagined Sunny Jim’s eye staring back at me. I imagined pulling him out and shouting “Mum! Mum! Guess what, I just got a Sunny Jim.” By the time I was concentrating again Melissa had moved onto the next table. There were lots of tables so I’m not going to tell you all the boring explaining Melissa did at each table, but I will tell you what is on each table. On the first one -Like I told you- was all the old day toys, and on the next table were toys from the old days and new days in comparison how they and changed, on the third table were any age toys but they all moved. On the fourth table were dolls and puppets, and then on the next table were challenging games (Like a yoyos and pick up sticks). And on the very last table were toys that all started and developed in New Zealand. After the explaining session we all got some free time to look at / use all of the toys. My personal 2 favourite things was the: 1. Big puppet on a string that was on the dolls and puppets table, and 2. Was this amazing really big doll from the old   days it was so pretty that I kind of wish that I had my own one. I also remember thinking when I first saw the big doll: wow I remember granny having one of those dolls at her old house. I liked playing with the puppet  on a string, because it was easy to give the funnily dressed little lady ( or maybe it was a strange looking man?) its own name and personality in only a couple of seconds. “Hello I’m Lillyabelle, and I love painting, my favourite colour is red and favourite animal is a little black kitten” I made the puppet say, and then I made it wave her hands around madly, painting a picture in thin air.

Going to Motat was so fun especially the session in the room with the awesome toys, and I hope I can go again soon. Thanks Motat!!
