Postgraduate Admission Notice (All Master’s Program)

• All applicants for admission into the postgraduate programs of CSE Department are hereby informed that the admission procedure will be held according to the following schedule.
• Admission Tests (see relevant section below) will be held. The candidates will be divided into two groups (see relevant section below) and two separate admissions tests, each for one group, will be conducted.
• Admission of an applicant into a postgraduate program of this Department is subject to performance in the admission test and/or interview, submission of required documents, verification of original documents, and equivalence of degrees.
• The Admission Committee reserves the right to refuse admission to any student who does not comply with the admission test guideline or where evidence exists that the applicant has adopted any sort of unfair means during the exam.  
• For any event, situation, or circumstance not mentioned in this document, the decision of the Admission Committee shall be final and binding to all concerned.
• The applicants are advised that all further information will be available here: PG Admission April 2024. Please continuously check the admission website for further updates.

Schedule:

Division of the candidates into two groups based on backgrounds:

Admission Tests:

For each group, there will be separate Admission Tests. Each admission test will be conducted in two phases in one sitting as follows. There will be a MCQ exam followed by a written exam. However, for each group, the scripts for the latter (i.e., written exam) will be evaluated only if the score in the MCQ exam is higher than or equal to a cut-off mark set by the Admission Committee. The decision of the Admission Committee in this regard will be final. The Final Merit List for each group will be determined by summing the scores of MCQ and written exams. The duration of the MCQ Exam will be 50 minutes and that for the written exam will be 1 hour. The written exam will consist of 10 questions (100 marks) and the MCQ exam will consist of 50 questions (50 marks). There will be negative marks in the MCQ exam: for each wrong answer, 0.5 marks will be deducted. Only non-programmable calculators will be allowed.

The admission test questions will include the following topics:

Choice Priority of Programs (in case of Multiple Applications):

For applicants who have applied in multiple Master’s programs, choice priority will be taken during the Admission tests. Finally allocation will be done based on the Admission Test scores and the provided choice priority. Consequently, if (provisionally) selected, an applicant will finally be (provisionally) selected to one program only. Final selection will depend, among other factors, on verification of original documents, and equivalence of degrees.

Document Verification Guideline:

All provisionally selected applicants must present the following documents for verification as per the mentioned schedule in the Department. Failing to conform to these requirements mentioned will result in cancellation of the candidature.

• Attested Photocopies of the missing documents, which the applicants could not attach during the application submission
• Original documents of

1. Certificates: SSC, HSC and B.Sc.
2. Transcripts/ mark-sheets: SSC, HSC and B.Sc.

1. If the transcript/mark-sheets does not show CGPA obtained, CGPA scale, minimum credit hour requirement and total credit hour completed, OR total marks in the exam, total marks obtained and percentage of marks obtained, a separate certificate from the controller of examinations mentioning this information must be provided.

3. Testimonial from the last attended institute issued by the Director of Student Welfare or University Proctor or Registrar or similar central authority, who records all the information related to students’ activities. Note that the testimonial from the Head of the Department, Supervisor, Provost, or similar authority who are not central authority of the University for keeping all information related to students’ activities will NOT be accepted. Your testimonial must certify that during your study in the corresponding institute you were not associated with any activity subversive to the institute or to the state. Any testimonial without this certification will not be accepted.
4. For employed candidates, a letter of consent from the employer.
5. Available documents for migration, degree conversion, CGPA or class calculation, etc. (specially for foreign degrees)
6. Proof of cancellation of previous admission into any postgraduate program of BUET as appropriate.
