Dear Students,

Welcome to  a great year on Team 6-4.  I am Mr. Bunting and am excited to be teaching you English and Social Studies this year. I’ve been working in Newton Public Schools since 1995 and at Oak Hill Middle School since the day it opened. I also taught in Ghana, West Africa and worked as a museum educator but I’m sure this is going to be the best year yet!

My favorite subjects in school were math and science until I reached college.  I especially liked geometry.  However, I always loved reading and I read a lot.  One book I read this summer was Fish Out of Water about a girl who can’t speak or walk. I have to be careful when I pick up a book because I get so excited about it I neglect other things I need to do.  I’m looking forward to sharing some great books with you this year.

I also love travel and meeting people from around the world.  I’ve been fortunate to visit South America, Europe and Asia as well as Africa.  A few places I still want to visit are Egypt, Israel, India and Australia.  Another thing that is important to me is my family.  I have a son who is twelve and a daughter who is nine.  This summer we traveled to New Hampshire and Quebec. Another of my interests is technology because I love to see what computers and various gadgets can do.  This summer I also did a course on programing on Khan Academy.  I’m excited we are going to be learning together this year and can’t wait for you to write back so I can find out more about you.

Sincerely,

Mr. Bunting
