CALLING ALL ARTISTS!!!
On Saturday, August 15th, we celebrate the second anniversary of #BeBraveDay, when hundreds of Visibility Brigade chapter groups will converge on overpasses and bridges across our nation, proclaiming:
BE BRAVE WITH US. WE’LL STAND WITH YOU.
Our goal is for this empowering message to become a mantra of hope and determination that we can hold onto and share with each other in even our darkest moments. See how it’s been used already! We want this message seen and heard EVERYWHERE - and we need your help building up to #BeBraveDay!
What you can do:
- Post on social media a video of yourself speaking the phrase “Be brave with us. We’ll stand with you.” into the camera and telling everyone to participate on #BeBraveDay on August 15th. (Social media best practices below)
- Create artwork of any kind, place it out into the world and share it online as well. This could include drawing, painting, making bracelets, painting rocks, posters, sidewalk art or any other form that you can come up with. (The only thing we ask is to refrain from using AI. We are fighting for our humanity after all, right?)
- If you have kids or grandkids who are artistic, have them create something based on the message. We need younger people engaged!
- Take the poem/lyrics below and recite it or make it into a song or any other form of creative expression.
- Share what you are doing online with friends, family, fellow artists and help us empower people! (Follow submission guidelines below.)
Question: Do I wait until August 15th to release what I’ve made?
Answer: We want #BeBraveDay to be the launch of our messaging, but we encourage you to create your art and get the word out about that day beforehand.

When sharing on social media, feel free to say or sing the phrase or the poem/lyrics into your camera and encourage others to do so as well. Shooting in vertical/portrait mode is encouraged. Please use the handle @visibilitybrigade and hashtags #BeBrave #BeBravewithUs #BeBraveDay #VisibilityBrigade and include www.VisibilityBrigade.com. We encourage using our logo assets if relevant. If you are posting prior to August 15th, please encourage others to join in on #BeBraveDay! Make your voice heard!

You are encouraged to use and adapt the poem/lyrics, and to share your work wherever and however you see fit, subject to the terms of this Creative Commons license in perpetuity.
If you want to record/perform the poem/lyrics based on a song version that’s already been created, here are some available options. (You’ll just need to attribute that composer as well.)
If you wish to submit your work to us for presentation on our official Visibility Brigade social media sites or in other formats, you can do so here. By sharing your work with us, you grant us a license under the Creative Commons license terms to use and share your work.
You may use the poem/lyrics below, in any format you would like, under this Creative Commons license in perpetuity. Attribution is required to: The Visibility Brigade. Should you wish to present a song or other works on a platform that generates revenue, that would violate the non-commercial aspect of the license, and to remedy that and comply with the license you will need to donate 100% of the gross revenue to the ACLU.
