What (and who) are TIGs?
(screencast of this section 5:24)
Bastrop ISD Technology Integration Guides, 2017-18
Our Mission: To assist teachers in integrating technology and future-focused skills into their classroom through basic technology support and training.
Your roles as TIG:
- Create a team. This should at minimum include the Media Specialist, Lab Managers (if applicable), Digital Learning Specialist, and preferably Instructional Coaches, Admins, Teachers, and Students, to help you address basic technology concerns, communicate tech-related announcements, and provide PD/training as needed.
- Create an efficient system. Your system should include clear processes for: 1) addressing basic technology concerns and needs, like providing basic troubleshooting and alerting technology when there are urgent issues; and 2) assessing campus needs for targeted tech training/resources, then providing said resources (either personally or by arranging to meet that need in some other way).
- Communicate. Your goal is to have a system that provides basic on-demand tech support at any given point during the day, to communicate concerns to technology, and to provide training/PD as needed. Communicate also means that people on your campus need to know who you are and how to get in contact with you and your team. Ideally you will have a very brief (3-5 min) check in at each faculty meeting, reminding teachers who you/your team are, what they should come to you for, any trainings that are on the horizon, etc.
Stipend:
- Elementary & Intermediate - $1500
- Middle & High School - $2000
Basic list of what you (and your team) might be expected to do:
- Basic “how to” support for:
- Clever SSO
- Eduphoria (Retrieving answer docs, scanning, etc.)
- Skyward Educator Access
- Internet connectivity - filter.bisdtx.org
- Google Apps For Education (GAFE - Docs, Drive, Forms, Gmail...etc.)
- Specifically: Google Forms/Quizzes and Google Classroom for 2016-17
- Any campus-wide intervention apps being used (Istation, for example)
- Digital Learning Checkout Kits (how to request/schedule)
- iPads (downloading free apps, connecting to internet, Apple ID questions)
- Basic tech troubleshooting (including x27199, how to do Helpdesk Tickets, etc.)
- Basic device setup (Doc camera + Laptop + Projector, for example)
- Present PD to staff (Teacher Orientation, Staff Development days, Faculty Meetings, etc.)
- Help with no more than 2 outside-of-work-hour events or training resources (For example, Edcamp, New Teacher Orientation, training video or walkthrough document, etc.)

Recommendations:
- Help Guide (for new Edlio teachers’ pages)
- Keep your site pages generic to limit updates each year (ie say 'Welcome to the new school year' rather than 'Welcome to the 2014-15 school year')
