Course Description 

Integrated Math 1 will cover solving equations and inequalities, linear functions and their graphs, systems of equations, statistics, reasoning and proof, parallel lines and polynomials. Students will work individually and in small groups on activities, daily assignments and open-ended problem solving as they deal with these topics.

Note: A scientific calculator is recommended.

Coursework

In Integrated Math 1 this year, we will cover the following units to reach state standards:

  1. Semester 1 - Intro to Algebra
  2. Semester 1 - Functions 
  3. Semester 1 - Linear Functions
  4. Semester 1 - Area & Binomial Multiplication
  5. Semester 1 - Modeling Two-Variable Data
  6. Semester 2 - Data
  7. Semester 2 - Systems of Equations
  8. Semester 2 - Intro to Geometry
  9. Semester 2 - Congruence & Coordinate Geometry
  10. Semester 2 - Inequalities

Materials (needed daily)

  • Charged chromebook; all assignments can be accessed through the CPM student eBook.
  • Notebook/composition book and pencil for daily practice and notes.
  • Folder/Binder
  • Optional: Check out your own copy of the Core Connections textbook from the bookroom
  • Optional: Graphing Calculator or Scientific Calculator

Grading

  • 10% Team Participation/Completed Practice Work
  • 20% Quizzes/Exit Tickets/Graded Work
  • 50% Individual Tests
  • 20% Final Exam 

Fully completed late work is accepted within each unit for up to 70% credit, and after a unit for up to 50% credit before the end of the semester.

Updated School Wide Credit Retrieval Policy

DDHS is instituting a 40/70 rule to be eligible for credit retrieval. If, for some reason, you do not pass Integrated 3 for one or both semesters, you will have the following options for retrieving the credit:

  • Retake the failed semester(s) in person the following year
  • Take a different third year course the following year (Math Models, Financial Literacy, etc)
  • Retrieve the credit using the APEX computer program in Day Academy, Credit Recovery, or Summer School (IMPORTANT NOTE: These options are ONLY available for students with a grade of 40% or better AND an attendance rate of 70% or better in their Integrated 3 class.)

Classroom Expectations

  • Students will be expected to participate regularly during class sessions in both TEAMS and individually.

  • Explain and give reasons
  • Ask questions and share ideas
  • Members of your team are your first resource
  • Stronger together than apart.
  • Treatment Agreements will be decided together within the first month of school.

About Me

  • Teacher for David Douglas School District for 22 years! I have taught math, science, and health at Alice Ott, Ron Russell, David Douglas Online Academy, and David Douglas High School.
  • I sing professionally.
  • I love to play volleyball and be active outside.
  • I love going to a beach anywhere!
  • Jeremy and I have one son named Isaac (8 years old/3rd grader), and a daughter on the way (due in mid October).
