‘Preparing each child for their future in an ever-changing world’
CARE - COURAGE - RESPECT - RESPONSIBILITY
NEWSLETTER 18 10th February 2017
From the Headteacher
It was lovely to see so many of you at the parents’ evening this week and thank you to those of you who took the time to come and tell me about the positive things we are doing for your children. We all now need a week off to recharge the batteries ready for another busy term. Have a good week everyone!
Thank you to all the parents, grandparents who attended. It was fantastic to see so many of you take part in the scavenger hunt and there was a really lovely ‘buzz’ around the school. Well done to the children for all your hard work and thank you to the staff for preparing and planning it all.
Brain Awareness Week
Brain Awareness Week is the 13th to the 19th of March this year and we have planned a day to work with our Neuroscientist STEM ambassador. This will be the 16th March and children will work with Dr Clare and her team throughout the day.
To start and finish the day we want to invite Reception Parents to come and work with their children to make a brain and learn all about how it works. These sessions will run from 9.00 to 9.30 and 2.30 to 3.00. We will send a sign up letter out after half term so please look out for it and send it to reserve a slot.
The other exciting development to this will be that the Year 6 children have been invited to the visit the Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity. They will be shown around, see equipment and talk to the researchers. A great way to promote the importance of Science and Research. This will be on the 24th March during the school day and more information will be sent after half term.

Oxford & Cambridge Singing School 10th, 11th April
Established in 2013, The Oxford and Cambridge Singing School is for boys and girls aged 7–13 who love to sing. The singing school was established to give children the opportunity to sing great classical music with world class coaches in a relaxed and fun environment and to develop their confidence and ability in singing and performing.
Our theme for this Easter is Classic English church anthems by Elgar, SS Wesley and Attwood. And following up on the popularity of Richard Rodney Bennett's Insect World songs at the 2015 Easter course, we will be singing another of his song cycles, The Aviary. This is a two day course and the cost is £90.
