I am sure you will be pleased to hear that my appointment in Rumania has just been confirmed by the King. I am so sorry that I shall no longer be able to continue my studies with you but

I fear it would have meant some good few years of work which it would have been impossible for me to afford.
May I again offer you my sincerest thanks both for the help you have given me in my study and also the kindly letter which you wrote on my behalf.

PS: I hear that your son is some day going into the House of my old friend Aris at Winchester. I don’t think you could have made a better choice. I was with him at [Rossa?] for some four or five years.
