June 29th [19]31.

Dear Mr de Laszlo.

I have been appointed steward to the A.G.B.I.[1] for the RBA, this year, & I am making a strenuous & optimistic effort to collect as big a sum as possible for this charity of which you have been such a generous supporter in the past.

This endeavour means that I must myself, a nuisence [sic] to all my friends & acquaintances in the Art World.

May I make an appeal to you – to send me a donation for this splendid cause?

I am confidant [sic] that, in spite of the many demands made upon your generosity, you will contribute to this charity, which has done so much splendid

work in the past, & if funds permit will continue to do so.

I have been warned by the secretary that my task is a thankless one, & many disappointments await me, but I am writing personal appeals, in the hope that such requests wont [sic] be treated like a circular!

Would you make out your cheque to me, as I have opened a deposit account at the bank in accordance with the wishes of the Institute.?[2]

In proud recollection of meeting you, & with loyal regards

Adrian Hill
