Steps to join Cellobration:
- We will have 3 different check-in times that correlate to the student level, so please review Class Levels HERE
- Please click on the Level link for specific schedule and information.

- Registration fees:
- $60 (ALL levels except Shooting Stars) - includes: T-shirt, Snack, and Lunch. To ensure that your T-shirt order is able to be honored, please register by October 16th. Be sure to check the correct T-shirt size. Youth and Adult sizes are offered. T-shirt option will not be available for registrations received after October 18th.
- $40 for Shooting Stars level - includes T-shirt and Lunch
- Cellobration believes that economic circumstances should not keep students from participating in our program. Please reach out to cellobrationaz@gmail.com with any questions.
~OVERVIEW of CELLOBRATION~
Cellobration General Classes: A fun day of CELLO for all levels - Beginner (Level 1) through Advanced (Level 5)*.
- More information will be provided in advance via email so that students can prepare.
- ASU Professor of Cello Thomas Landschoot will teach level 4 and 5 students.
Cellobration Audition Prep Workshop (after the concert)
- Regional Excerpts & All-State Excerpts taught by Jan Simiz, assistant principal cellist of The Phoenix Symphony
- General Technique
Students:
You will be sent an email ahead of time with details and music specific to your level. On the day of Cellobration, you must bring: CELLO and BOW, rosin, ENDPIN anchor and a pencil. Please print and bring music that is emailed to you, especially if you have notes from your teacher. Extra copies will be available at the site.
Teachers and Parents:
- Teachers: Pre-registration is required; there is no registration charge for teachers who are current members of ASTA. There is a $25 fee for non-ASTA members. Professional Development Verification will be available for any teacher who attends any of the classes.
- Parents: Parents are welcome to observe the class of their Cellobration participants.
- T-shirts are available for purchase for $15.
Level 4 & Level 5 Schedule:
- 8am Check-in
- 8:30 am Classes begin
- 1:30 Concert
- 2:30pm: Audition Workshop (for high school students)
Level 3 Schedule:
- 9am Check-in
- 9:30 Classes begin
- 1:30 Concert
- 2:30pm: Audition Workshop (for high school students)
Level 1 & Level 2 Schedule:
- 9:30am Check-in
- 10am - Classes begin
- 1:30 Concert
Shooting Stars Schedule:
- 10:45am Check-in
- 11am - Classes begin
- 1:30 Concert
*Class Levels: Guidelines are as follows: Please click on the Level link for specific schedule and information.
- Shooting Stars: for students ages 4-7, Pre-Twinkle-Suzuki Book 1. *Parent or caregiver is required to attend with their student.
- Level I: Cellists have played for 2 years or less and play in first position only. No music reading required.
- Level 2: Cellists with a firm knowledge of 1st position, with extensions on all strings. Must read music.
- Level 3: Cellists with a firm knowledge of the notes in half through 4th positions (with extensions). Play in keys through 3-sharps and 2-flats.
- Level 4: Cellists with a firm knowledge of half through 7th positions (thumb position). Play in keys through 4-sharps and 4-flats. Know tenor clef. Use vibrato.
- Level 5: Advanced Cellists are able to perform Level 4 requirements, as well as perform in treble clef
