EN- Meaning: the expression "the die is cast" is using to indicate an important and irrevocable decicion, and so you can't chamge your idea.

Origin: this expression is the translation of a latin sentence (iacta alea est, literally "the die has been thrown"), which, according to the historical Svetonio, was pronunced by the commander Caio Giulio Cesare in January 49 B.C., when he decided to go beyond, with his army, the corner of the Country, that at that time was delimited to the north by the river Rubicone, in Emilia. So a civil war began between the cesare's party and that of Pompeo, supported by roman senate.

The metaphorical meaning  of the expression is to break any delais: in fact, for the players of dies, after you ha thrown it, you can't change anymore.

The crossing of the Rubicone river showed Cesare's intection to conquer with his force the power, subjecting the roman senate, who was hostile to him.

En - Have the outspoken

En - To have your voice into the chapter-house

I monaci "senza voce in capitolo" potevano ascoltare dalle finestre!

En - You often hear someone say:”you haven’t a say in the matter” or oven the opposite “you have a say in the matter”. The origen of this two expression dates back to Medieval time.

In this assembly only the monks had the right to speak and often not all of them.

The Monks Cistercensi for example, were divided into two categories: Monks Coristi and Monks Conversi. The Monks Conversi for example who were the monks that started religious’s life when they were adults couldn’t speak but only listen this assembly from windows.

Today’s the meaning of the expression to have a say in the matter – is to have authority, credit to intervene in a discussion or in making a decision

Meaning: when there is noone who commands you, you, who are submissive, can "dance", that is, you do what you want, such as when the teacher is not in the class students make noise.

The proverb is an expression of the voice of the people but nowadays the use of this proverb belongs to the past. The proverbs are expressions of the past born in a particular situation which has made them known

MEANING: It means you have to speak about the important things without loosing time with useless details. FOR EXAMPLE you can use it when your mother tells you what you are going to eat this evening, and she begins to tell you that she couldn't find anything in the shop and so on... and you tell her: "ve al grano por favor".

ORIGIN: it comes from the language used during the wheat processing, when people sieving, separe the wanted element from unwanted material.
