1. Prelude - Waiting in Orbit
Updated automatically every 5 minutes

This is the first section of a solo adventure following the crew of Sylva’s Folly, an Alliance gunrunner operating in the core worlds.

Lo An'Tu is a Bothan procurement specialist, seeking out bargains and black markets wherever they can be found. He's a fierce negotiator and a bit of a scoundrel, but he's loyal to the Rebellion and is never caught without his holdout blaster and a backup plan.

Dobool is an Ithorian mechanic. He's a pacifist at heart but he can't stand idly by and watching his friends fight for his cause without him. His keen mind and placid demeanor belie a powerful strength of will and fearless devotion.

Cadan Zhalto is Duros pilot. He can fly anything, anywhere and won't back down from a chance to prove it. His temper and willingness to draw his blaster get him into trouble but his anger hides a deep suffering, as he lost his family in the bombardment of Duro.

Sylva's Folly is a 4R3 Light Assault Transport, a deceptive vehicle of war skirting the classification between military and civilian craft. Once a smuggling vehicle operating under a Black Sun captain, the ship was acquired under uncertain circumstance by Lo An'Tu shortly before he joined the Rebellion. Scarred and pitted, her retractable armament has more than once led to the sacking of an Imperial transport craft.

SYLVA'S FOLLY

Facing the threat of the yet-identified secret Imperial project, the Rebel Alliance has begun to bolster its strength in preparation of the fight to come.

The crew of SYLVA'S FOLLY have followed a lead to the desiccated planet CAAMAS, once a thriving core world, now reduced to domed cities and vast landscapes of ruin by the force of the GALACTIC EMPIRE.

With Imperial attention drawn to the nearby planet ALDERAAN, LO AN'TU and his allies prepare to meet their new contact…

No Duty triggered.

The crew of Sylva's Folly sits in the spacious cockpit, waiting for the signal from their contact on the planet below.

Cadan Zhalto can't take it any longer. "How long are we going to stay up here, Lo? We've been waiting three days now and we've got nothing. Maybe he blew us off."

Lo An'Tu pauses in his pacing. "I don't think so. Not this one. He sounded like the real deal, you know I've got an ear for these things. He said he could deliver one hundred E-11s and ten sets of trooper kit. That's a big prize for the Rebellion and a good profit for us. He only wants seventy five for the lot, too. I'll wait another week if I have to."

Cadan shakes his head. "You're nuts. He probably got nabbed."

A light on the console starts to blink. Dobool lumbers over and hits the toggle. "Who is it?"

"This is the Imperial Docking Authority. Again. How long are expecting to maintain orbit? Your hyperdrive should have been repaired by now."

Dobool Deceit vs Comm Operator Discipline

"I..." Dobool draws a blank. "It's not working yet?"

"By the Emperor," says the comm operator to someone nearby, "It's the Ithorian again." The comm operator's voice approaches the microphone and speaks very slowly. "Can... you... put... the Bothan... on?"

Dobool nods. He shambles over the Lo. "They think they'll have better luck with you."

Lo An'Tu takes the comm. "You're harassing my mechanic again! Listen, the hyperdrive's still broken and all your nagging isn't going to make it work any faster. Why don't you send up your own mechanic if you think he's so slow?"

"Fine," says the dock official. "Fine. Take another day. But if you're not out of the system by tomorrow we're going to send a shuttle up after you and they won't be so understanding."

The blinking light turns off and Cadan breathes a sigh of relief. "I don't think I can take another day of this, Lo."

The light starts flashing again. "Oh for goodness says," says Lo An'Tu. He takes the microphone again. "You bastard, if you don't stop harassing me-"

A cool voice on the other end replies. "I take it the deal's off?"

Lo An'Tu jumps back. He mouths "This is the guy," and steps back to the microphone. Dobool and Cadan lean into the conversation. "Hold on, Alyn," says Lo. "I'm going to try to encrypt the channel.

Dobool steps forward to help.

If I had rolled a despair, they would have attracted the attention of Imperial communications techs.

"And we're set," says Lo. "I don't think we'll be listened in on. Did you get the stuff?"

"Yeah," says Alyn, "I've got the stuff. But it got a little more complicated than I thought."

Alyn Fak Negotiation vs Lo An'Tu Cool

"It can be as complicated as you want," says Lo, "But we agreed to seventy five and you've kept as waiting. You should give us a discount, or something extra."

"I said complicated," says Alyn, "Not impossible. I'll throw in some transponder codes and we should be squared."

"Well," says Alyn, "That's the thing that's complicated. I have your weapons, I have your armor, all pristine, not a blaster mark on any of it and the codes are cleaned right out. Unfortunately you're going to have to wait a bit longer."

Cadan groans.

"How much longer?" says Lo.

"Could be two weeks. Could be longer."

"I'll give you one."

"I don't think you understand," says Alyn. "The goods are on Alderaan."

"Are you kidding me?" Cadan burst. "We've been waiting here three days and you want us to wait two weeks? We could just go catch some stormtroopers by then!"

"Not one hundred of them," says Alyn. "And not without picking up some scorch marks. Listen, I promise, this is the good stuff and I have a guy that can bring it. It's worth it, you know it is, just hold tight for two weeks and I'll get your hull full to bursting of all the fine Imperial equipment you could ever hope for."

"We're not sitting anywhere," says Cadan, "We've got docking barking at us and the engine's are running cool. You find us when you're ready for the trade and we'll be back here."

"Who's this guy?" asks Alyn.

"This is my pilot," says Lo An'Tu, "And if he says we're going, we'll be going. He's right, we can't wait any longer without getting carried back down in magnacuffs. Send us a message when you're ready to trade and we'll be sitting here in orbit waiting for the drop off."

"Fine," says Alyn, "Keep your channels open, I'll be in touch shortly." The comm line goes dead and Cadan screams epithets at the top of his lungs.

Dobool snickers. "Should have just old him off like he was the comm operator. Would have gone just as well."

"Keep it to yourself," says Lo. "He's right, it's still worth it."

"I'm checking the job board," says Cadan. "There must be something we can do to not be totally wasting our time."

A: Caamas dock security is on the tail of another Rebel smuggler who has requested assistance from any allies in the area. Helping him would draw the attention of the Imperials and could cost quite a large number of credits in bail.

B: The Temple of the Golden Hand, a powerful Caamas luddite sect, has claimed that Sylva's Folly carries a doomsday device and is lobbying to eject it from the system. Leaving would cost them the opportunity to get their supplies, but fighting the rumor would attract undue attention from the authorities.

C: A low ranking Imperial officer is rumored to challenge escaped Caamas refugees to brutal speederbike races, with a full pardon as the prize. A victory by the crew could be a chance to recruit personnel for a cause desperately in need of bodies, but a loss could mean detainment, flight, or even death.
