Important 2017 Summer School Updates

Because our summer school program has experienced amazing growth over the past few years, we have had to implement some changes to our policies. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with these changes, as we will have to adhere to them to keep our program running smoothly.

Registration Information

Online Registration for summer school will open Tuesday, April 4, and will close Friday, April 21.   A link for the course booklet is listed above.  A guide for registration will also be linked above.

The summer school office at Hemlock Creek will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April, 6  to provide assistance to families who do not have online computer access or need help signing up for classes.

Payment Information

Once online registration is complete you will be directed to pay via e-funds, there will be a charge of $1.00 to complete the transaction. If necessary, payment can be sent to the summer school office with check or exact monies if accompanied with a printout of student’s confirmation. Without a printout of the student’s confirmation we will not process your payment.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

To keep class costs affordable, refunds will only be issued if a class is canceled by the Summer School Director or because of a family/medical emergency. No refunds will be given for classes once they have started.

All classes are subject to cancellation by the Summer School Director. Any class that does not have sufficient enrollment may be canceled. If a class is canceled, alternative classes will be available.

Schedules and Confirmations

Confirmations will be sent via e-mail when you register your child on-line. Your child’s schedule with class and room information will be available the 1st day of summer school at the location of their first class.

Transportation

Parents must provide transportation for the Summer School Program. The exception to this is the shuttle between sites for the 10:00 a.m. class.

College or High School Summer School Opportunities

College or high school students interested in Summer School Employment or volunteer hours:

Application deadline: April 21, 2017 at 3:00 P.M.

Interviews will be held the week of May 1, 2017

If selected for an interview you will be contacted by Mr. Kowalcyzk via email to set up the time and date.

All opening are based on enrollment and will be determined by mid-May.

If you have worked for summer school in the past please submit a cover letter expressing your interest in this years program via e-mail to Mr. Kowalczyk at mkowalczyk@wdpsd.com by April 21, 2017.

Volunteer Opportunities

If you are a high school student interested in volunteering for summer school please send an e-mail expressing your interest to Mr. Kowalczyk at mkowalczyk@wdpsd.com by May 12, 2017.

Soaring Through Summer

Soaring Through Summer is a “by invitation only” course, that will help students continue to develop and maintain their reading and math skills that he/she learned during the school year. We have found that a number of our students experience learning losses during the summer, and we are committed to ensuring that the students do not experience such learning loss this summer.  “Soaring Through Summer” is fun, engaging, and will be similar to many other summer school courses. Each student will receive a “Soaring Through Summer” T-shirt at the end-of-the-summer recognition ceremony.
