The PA Department of Education (PDE) outlines academic standards for career education that schools are required to begin as young as kindergarten and continue on through the student’s graduation from high school. The purpose of these state requirements is to better prepare our students for the competitive world of work and provide them with the necessary skills to identify career interests, understand what training and education is required for the career, and implement the process for obtaining that employment. The School Counseling Program will deliver a career education guidance lesson in each class to fulfill some of these requirements. Other activities that assist with these requirements are performed in the individual classes or as grade level field trips.
