Schroeder YMCA Swim Team
The total number of Raffle tickets sold to date is about 16,000. Thanks to everyone who continues to go above and beyond their required number of tickets. If each family doubles their mandatory amount of tickets, we’ll reach our goal of selling 30,000.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, please make sure you’re well stocked with tickets for those family gatherings. Coaches always have extra tickets with them, so just let them know when you need more.
Remember to drop off your ticket stubs to the coaches before or after practice, and keep up the great work!
Over 70 Schroeder swimmers traveled to the Carmel Fall Frenzy Meet in Indianapolis this past weekend. Our swimmers did battle with swimmers from Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, and more than held their own. A huge number of personal best times were done along with a team record and numerous WI State Championship qualifying times. Swimmers and parents all had a fun time enjoying a meet on the road both in and out of the pool.

2. Arrival Times for Schroeder Invite This Sunday, 11/16:
Swimmers arrive: 8:45 a.m.
Warm-ups: 9:00 a.m.
Meet starts: 10:00 a.m.
Cold weather has arrived, so swimmers should pack sweat shirts, pants, extra towel, etc. to stay warm between their events on Sunday.
3. Swimmers of the Meet for Carmel Fall Frenzy:
After each USS/YMCA meet, one female swimmer and one male swimmer from South’s Age Group 1, Age Group 2, Age Group 3, Super 8, Schroeder Star, and SuperStar Groups will be acknowledged as the Swimmer of the Meet. A number of criteria will be considered for this honor, including meet performance, attending all sessions of the meet, practice attendance, improvement, sportsmanship, positive attitude, swimming an event for the first time, etc.
Both Swimmers of the Meet made the trip to Indianapolis for their first travel meet and had a successful weekend. Steven Gorski, our male swimmer, is 10 years old and is going into his third year of swim (he is one of the “pioneers” of Schroeder South). Steven is in Age Group 2 and swam particularly well in the 200 Free and 200 IM. In the IM he swam a best time by dropping 16 seconds.
Congratulations to Lily Rosenau who is our female swimmer. Lily did best times in her 50 Free, 50 Breast; on Sunday she dropped 5 seconds in her 50 Back and 9 seconds in her 50 Fly. Lily and her mom said one of the experiences Lily enjoyed most about the weekend was talking to other swimmers from Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, etc. behind the blocks before she competed.
Congratulations to Lily and Steven and keep up the good work and effort. We hope to see many more 12 & Under swimmers join the fun at the Carmel Meet in 2015.

6. Not Too Soon To Sign Up for the Y Finalist Meet Dec 12-14th:
The registration deadline for this meet is Nov. 26th, the day before Thanksgiving. This is a must meet for all groups, except for the Schroeder Stars and Super Stars. All swimmers are expected to attend. It’s the last meet of the Fall Session, so in addition to watching your swimmer, don’t you want to be there to find out who wins the “Cash For the Holidays” Raffle? Here's the link to commit
7. South Think Tank (SSTT):
We’re forming an official SSTT membership group for parents willing to commit to attend all 4 SSTT meetings a year (September, November, January and May) to develop consistency, so watch for an email. If you’re interested in becoming an official member, please let Bob know. All are welcome. It’s a great way to meet other parents, give your input, and help strengthen our team.
The next SSTT meeting is Monday, January 19th at 6:30 p.m. at Front Room Photo, 2637 S. Kinnickinnic Ave, Bay View. We plan to have our official SSTT members in place for the January meeting but as always, it’s open to all parents. A big thanks to the Laber family for offering their beautiful studio space for our 11/3 meeting and hosting our 1/19 meeting.
