News
7.2 is on the PTR!
- Broken shore is a new outdoor questing area like Timeless Isle
- The main hub, Deliverance Point, will be filled with your champions
- There will be rares, chests, armor tokens, quests, and areas to fortify/rebuild
- You will need to be exalted with the new faction Armies of Legionfall for Pathfinder Part 2
- Ion Hazzikostas tweeted that there will be a lot more content than there was on Timeless Isle. The initial build is only bits of the sandbox systems.
- 7.2 also includes the Tomb of Sargeras raid, and all the other goodies mentioned at BlizzCon like class mounts and PvP brawls
- Blue Post:
To recap, here are all of things we’re getting with 7.2
- Return to the Broken Shore: This is the climax of the Class Order Hall story. The emphasis is our orders succeeding where our factions failed. We’ll be building a Legionfall base together to get our foothold on the shore.
- Legion Assaults: Like the pre-expansion event. But now around the Broken Isles.
- Flying: Broken Isles Pathfinder Part Two is coming, and with it account-wide flying.
- Tomb of Sargeras Raid: We’re raiding Nighthold right now to get the 5th and final Pillar of Creation, the Eye of Aman’Thul. Next patch we’ll take the fight into the Tomb to use the pillars to seal the portal through which the Legion is pouring through.
- Cathedral of Eternal Night Dungeon: PATCH DUNGEON! Where the Tomb will send us down into the form Temple of Elune, this dungeon will have us scaling it’s tallest spire.
- PvP Brawls: Pause for Jocelyn squees.
- Southshore vs. Tarren Mill – Dive into this classic large-scale game of team deathmatch.
- Instant-Cap Warsong Gulch – You don’t need to protect your own flag. Just grab and go!
- Packed House: 15 v 15 Arena – Who needs elbow room?
- Gravity Lapse – Defy the law of gravity in this brawl.
- Winter Arathi Basin – Low visibility and iced over waterways await you.
- Eye of the Horn – Mounted ram fights are the new PvP.
- Artifact Updates: We’re getting an Artifact campaign (unlocked upon maxing out our Artifact) which will allow us to get new Artifact traits.
- New World Quests on the Broken Shore—along with other new challenges.

Lore
OG Gul’dan
If you haven’t already, watch the Harbingers short for Gul’dan.
Early Life
- Gul’dan was born on Draenor, and was ostracized by his tribe for being smaller and weaker than an orc should be
- Banished following a beating from his tribe members, Gul’dan traveled to the Throne of the Elements, hoping the elemental spirits would help him, but they recoiled from him and abandoned him as well
- Voices whispered to him, offering him power in return for being their instrument of fury
- Gul’dan returned to his village and burned it and it’s inhabitants to the ground using fel magic
Rise of the Horde
- Some time later, Gul’dan became the apprentice of Ner’zhul, chieftain of the Shadowmoon clan
- Ner’zhul, corrupted by the influence of Kil'jaeden, rallied the separate orc clans into the first Horde, and set them on the draenei.
- As the orcs carried out their attacks on the draenai, Ner’zhul began to notice the orc shamans could no longer call upon the powers of the elements. He realized they had been used, and was going to attempt to back out of the deal with Kil’jaeden
- Gul’dan had witnessed Ner’zhul’s visions at the sacred temple within Oshu'gun, and had told Kil’jaeden of his master’s plans
- Gul’dan made a new bargain with Kil’jaeden to become the first Warlock, and began reshaping the Horde from shamanistic tribes to bloodthirsty warriors
The Shadow Council
- In order to support his rule over the orcs, Gul’dan created the Shadow Council, who influenced and directed all aspects of orc society. He also created a new clan, the Stormreavers, loyal to him
- Gul’dan and the Shadow Council sought to seal their pact with Kil’jaeden, and so gathered the clans and offered the Blood of Mannoroth to their leaders
- The Blood of Mannoroth cursed the orcs, turning them green, and making them even more bloodthirsty, evil, and powerful
- This new Horde, under Gul’dan leadership, nearly eradicated the draenai on Draenor
The First War
- After the draenai were defeated, Gul’dan was contacted by Medivh who offered power unimaginable if Gul’dan would use his Horde to conquer Azeroth
- Gul’dan agreed, and with the help of his Shadow Council, built and opened the Dark Portal connecting the two worlds
- The orc’s use of fel magic was slowly killing Draenor, as they siphoned life from the planet in order to power their magics. The orcs were also growing restless with nothing left to kill, so they were easily convinced to invade Azeroth
- Blackhand was elected Warchief, but was really a pawn of Gul’dan’s. He led the rampage across Azeroth ending with the siege of Stormwind
- As the siege began, Gul’dan became aware of a raiding party heading to Karazhan to kill Medivh
- Gul’dan went into Medivh’s mind, searching for the location of the power Medivh had promised him. Still in his mind when Medivh was murdered, Gul’dan was sent into a coma
- Without Gul’dan’s support, Blackhand was defeated in single combat by Orgrim Doomhammer, who became the new Warchief of the Horde
- Learning of his treachery, Orgrim slaughtered Gul’dan’s warlocks and the majority of the Shadow Council for the curse of slavery he had brought down upon the once peaceful and honorable orcs
The Second War
- When Gul’dan awoke from his coma, he had only his apprentice Cho’Gall (the first Ogre Mage), his clan the Twilight’s Hammer, and his necrolytes as allies
- Orgrim spared Gul’dan’s life, against his better judgement, in exchange for information about Blackhand’s followers, particularly his sons Rend and Maim
- Gul’dan warned Orgrim of a coup the Blackhands were planning with the raider faction of orcs, so Orgrim disbanded the raiders and separated them among the other orc regiments
- As a show of loyalty to Orgrim, Gul’dan promised him an army of the undead loyal only to him
- Gul’dan tried again and again to raise the dead, but continually failed, until Cho’Gall aided in the ritual, killed all the other necrolytes, and trapped their souls in green crystals
- Gul’dan then bound the souls to the bodies of the slain Stormwind guards, creating the first Death Knights
- Orgrim left Gul’dan to his own devices as he became increasingly preoccupied with the War
Betrayal and Death
- Unconcerned with the eventual outcome of the war, Gul’dan in his thirst for power abandoned the Horde on the eve of their attack on the human capital of Lordaeron
- He took the combined forces of his Stormreaver clan and the Twilight’s Hammer clan and set out to find the Tomb of Sargeras, which was the location of the godlike power promised to him by Medivh
- With almost half of his force suddenly missing, Orgrim was forced to retreat, giving the Alliance of Lordaeron time to regroup, and costing the Horde the war
- Gul’dan and his forces located the Tomb, and raised it from the ocean floor. As they entered, Gul’dan and his men were torn to shreds by demons who resided within the crypt
- The remainder of the two clans were slaughtered when Orgrim and the rest of the Horde caught up to them
- Gul’dan’s memories and power survived as part of a spell he cast as he died, remaining contained within his skull, becoming an object of great power

Dear Jocelyn and Garrett,
Hi there, I have been listening since episode 7 and I have really been enjoying it. I haven't played since Cata and my current computer can't run Legion but I have been wanting to start playing again. I know when it comes to picking your main that it should be based on what feels the best but as someone who can't try out any of the classes, is there a race/class(es) you'd suggest trying first? I've been thinking a Tauren Pally, a Pandaren Shaman, and a Troll Druid, am I in the right direction? When I started in vanilla I mained a Tauren Arms Warrior with my eyes on wielding the Ashbringer and now that Ret-Pallies get it as their legendary and Taurens can be paladins, I can hear the chimes of fate ringing.
Thanks in advance!
Martin
I loved hearing more about Prophet Velen and the Draenei. I’ve been playing a Draenei paladin for just over 10 years (happy birthday, BC!), and my knowledge of Draenai history was pretty much summed up by /silly: “How exactly do you crash into a planet? That’s what I want to know.” Now I have back story, and Prophet Velen is more than a mildly annoying Legion scenario.
My knowledge of gnomes is just as limited. Clearly, we had some sort of little accident in Gnomeregan, and for some reason we still shout “For Gnomeregan” when any sensible (taller) person would just hope that everyone would forget Gnomeregan and all the glowing green stuff over there. I have learned that being pummeled by a blunt instrument can be pretty painful, but as a gnome, I have not learned any of our no doubt noble and inspiring history. Is there noble and inspiring gnomish lore?
Thanks for making WoW even more fun for me!
