#EDUCAMPWELLY

Saturday February 27th @ Karori Normal School

What is an unconference?

EduCampNZ is based on a user generated 'unconference' or Barcamp. The focus is on digital learning and education, sharing ideas we've discovered and learning from each other. Everyone is invited to participate. The purpose of EduCampNZ is to both learn and contribute. It is modelled on the Open Space Meeting format. So come along with some ideas or questions you want to discuss.

No real agenda is set and it will be up to participants to determine the focus for the sessions. Post-it notes will be available to write down topics of interest. You will then select which topics you want to attend in each session. ‘Vote with your feet’ is the rule - if something isn’t for you, simply get up and move to another room that might. Converse, network and have fun!

Smackdown

What is this smackdown you speak of? Do you have great ideas to share?

Maybe you have a favorite tool, app, idea or tip to share? Participants (optional) will have up to 2 minutes to show one tip, trick, app, device, tool, whatever! Please prepare 1 google slide to present and add it here. The purpose is for everyone to walk away energized and buzzing with new ideas.

Not signed up to Twitter?

Why not? Twitter is a fabulous way to connect and collaborate with other teachers. It also helps you know what is happening in all those sessions you can’t make it to. The hardest part is thinking of a handle (name)! Go to twitter.com and search for #educampwelly and @Welly_ED and start following. If you’re unsure, ask anyone running the educamp for help.

On that note - educampwelly is device friendly with free WiFi - so bring whatever is most portable :)

General Info

The beginning of the day.

Registration will take place in Room 25 (opposite the staffroom) after which we will all meet in Kererū Block (Rooms 33-35). Here’s a map of the school if you’re lost. Everything will be signposted so you can easily find your way. Sessions will be in a number of spaces in the school. Please bring a koha for this event, a box will be at registration. This money goes towards covering any expenses we have which help keep this event free.

Beverages.

A coffee cart will be onsite for you to purchase delicious beverages to wake you up and get you sparking.

Kai.

Lunch is late - don’t panic! N4L is providing pizza and the end of the day around 2pm. Bring your own snacks or purchase something from the coffee cart to sustain you until then, with a morning tea break at 10.00am.

Come continue the conversation afterwards at One Fat Bird, the local pub.  We have booked an area. They have craft beer on tap and a great selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Parking.

Parking is available on Donald Street and the surrounding area. Please do not park in the Karori Pool carpark as this is a very busy place in the weekend. There are a number of buses to Karori as well.

Thank you to N4L, CORE Education and Nicole Smith from Harcourts, as well as various local businesses for their support.
