Y11 November Mock - Textiles Guidance

Guidance

For your Textiles mock exam in November 2024 you will have five hours working in exam conditions in the Textiles room. Depending on the date of the exam, you will either be working finishing your Food is Fun 3D cushion.  Or you will be starting your starting development samples for your chosen artist for Natural form.

Re-learn & Practice

This is not an exam you can revise for, but you can prepare and plan what you will complete in the 5 hours.

Your whole project is assessed across 4 assessment objectives, so the mock is just a part of this.

AO1: Research & developing ideas. (24 marks)

     AO2: Experimenting & refining skills & techniques. (24 marks)

AO3: Recording ideas: mind maps, plans, photos & drawing. (24 marks)

     AO4: Personal outcome. (24 marks)

    Total: 96 marks

Write a list of materials you might need on the day.

  • Check we have them in school.
  • If not you might need to purchase them yourself i.e. colourful buttons.

Bring any artist images to use for inspiration.

  • You can print these images before the exam but not in the exam.

Make sure you are confident doing the following things as you teacher cannot do this for you:

  • Thread the machine
  • Wind a bobbin

Attend after school support sessions to help prepare and cut up fabrics before the exam.

  • The more preparation you do the smoother the exam day will go.

Bring your sketchbook to the exam, you will need this to refer back to.
