New trails and outdoor equipment at Courtney’s Day of Service
Thank you to over 60 volunteers for attending the 2nd Courtney’s Day of Service at YMCA Camp Jones Gulch on April 13, 2014! Because of you, thousands of youth will have a safer, more exciting, more transformative, and more fun experience at Camp.
We built and painted six new picnic tables; installed a giant chess/checkers board; replaced an ailing foot-bridge; refreshed the picnic area and archery range; laid the foundation for a knot-tying wall; and restored the Loon Trail, Old Toyon Trail, Vista Trail, and—closest to our hearts—Coral’s Way. Join us for the first annual Gala dinner and auction to benefit Courtney’s Fund. All proceeds raised support of organizations that help preserve the environment, work being done to eradicate the environmental causes of breast cancer, The Courtney Harrington LeBoeuf Environmental Law Scholarship, and outdoor education at YMCA Camp Jones Gulch.
Volunteers Wanted! We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this event happen: Check-in Table (4 needed), Event Setup & Decorations (10 needed), and Volunteer Bartenders (4 needed). Please send an email to Sharalyn (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you can assist!
Auction Prizes: As part of our fund raiser auction, we are looking for donations from the auctions: exciting prizes, goods, and services! Can you or your company support us? Do you know someone who could? Please email Jay!
Gala Support: Every little extra item amplifies the donations to Courtney’s Fund. We’re looking for wine, connections to event rental companies (tables, linens, silverware and glassware), and graphic design.
Did you know that 100% of all donations are awarded grants?
Courtney’s Fund claims $0 in expenses! You read that right. Almost all non-profit organizations assume some overhead: expenses used for items ranging from wages to marketing to office supplies. But since 2012, we donate our own time and private funding to things like the web site, thank you cards and postage, expenses related to Courtney’s Day of Service or the Fundraising Dinner, and the amazing Courtney’s Journey book project. It’s a small thank you to everyone for your generosity.
Your copy of Courtney’s Journey
Since December 2013, we mailed out over 200 printed copies of Courtney’s Journey to donors who donated $50 or more anytime in the past 2 years. (If you haven’t received your copy, please notify us and send your mailing address!) If you know of anyone who is going through a difficult time and would benefit from the book, please contact us and we will send them a free copy of the book.
